Just not seeing it.

Great rebuttals from both of you. Apparently unless you’re relentlessly bitter and negative about the club, you’re a shill or not worth talking to. Very sensible as ever.

Keep your heads buried in the sand lads, you’ll miss all the fun.

Been enjoying the fun for 52 years, you keep trying to save the Universe Flash.

Wasting your time Flash. Starve the wums of the attention they crave.

The club is heading in the right direction and it's refreshing.

Didn’t I say something similar in my original post only I condensed into one sentence.

We can all see that the game plan is based around a high press but what else? Where is the finesse in our football and where is the control and creativity?
Yes bit of an odd original list!

My opinion is that due to the excellent recruitment in the summer, we don't actually have a lot to do this pre season. I would like an excellent quick ball playing CB, but with some youth getting closer to the first team and Matos having a full pre season with the current squad, I tihnk we'd be in for a promising season
So we don't need any new wingers and a creative goal scoring midfielder then ?

We don't need anymore central midfielders.
A couple of creative/goalscoring wingers will make a huge difference.

Big calls for Ronald and Eom coming up this summer. I would not be surprised that they could be picked up for a decent fee in championship terms.

As it goes, I am expecting Inoussa to really make the step up next season.

He certainly has the ability to do so.
Yeah we only really got to see him mostly under Sheehan and carrying an injury that eventually sidelined him. I’m hoping we can see more from him next season.

We do need another winger just from a numbers standpoint, hopefully someone who adds more attacking threat. I still think that eom and Ronald can be useful for us. It all depends on what our financial situation is like I guess.

Don't forget, we went into the transfer window actively looking for a RW but signed a LW in Nunes after the prognosis that Inoussa was out for 4 months.

I feel we will certainly move one of Ronald or Eom on, I wouldn't be surprised if both moved on.

Ronald will be going into the final year of his contract next season, although there is apparently a club option for an extra year, so it's not super urgent. I'm, kinda ok with keeping him as a back-up, but we absolutely need to replace him as a starter with better.

It maybe a lot, but they are simply not good enough. There is a reason why we are 15th in league and it's because we have either average or below average players for this league.
Hmm - there is a flaw in your thinking. Under Matos we have won 11 times and drawn 5 times in 26 games (equates to roughly 1.46 points per game).
Extrapolated over a 46 game season this would be roughly 67 points. Last season we finished on 61.
I think this is a very fair evaluation of this current squad - top half BUT not play off quality.
Our inability to bet the top sides is a massive hurdle for this squad if we are to make a leap forward.

Ok so last night I asked for the sensible people on here to give me their opinions on yesterday’s performance.

Not really going to go over the game again but I simply don’t see the levels of improvement that some of you seem to be seeing.

Let’s be honest Vitor didn’t have to nudge the needle that far to improve on Sheehans tenure, the only difference I really see is at its most basic level….effort!!

Still have no idea what the game plan is other than a high energy press or headless chicken football, no overall improvement of quality or the ability to control the game.

I don’t think there’s been a single game including the hapless Wednesday match where we’ve managed to control or exert any authority on our opponents.

Vitor is a likeable guy and will have the opportunity to have a full pre season and some input into recruitment next season so I guess I’ll have to wait to see what he does then.

As for the four points claim that I made I genuinely hope we surpass that amount, not interested in being proven right or wrong that’s for the usual clowns on here.

So what game plan would you like to see ?
Middlesbrough play a possession game
Expansive football short passing with good movement , would you prefer their control of the game .
Despite them dominating most games they lack the killer touch in the box .
most championship games are pretty tight decided by fine margins .
I see an improvement in our play now than in the past 4 seasons .

Well, perhaps he would like to see wingers ,that when they get the ball, are going to create chances , or even , god forbid, actually do something with the ball themselves. Eom stats this year are appalling for an attacking winger and Ronalds aren't much better, and don't even mention Benson and Nunes. Or perhaps a midfield player that can actually link the front half up and score some goals. All our midfield players are much of a muchness, plenty of effort and running, but always seem to better without the ball than creating anything. I think Matos has done a decent job so far, not spectacular but decent, i think the owners have got the club at heart and hope like all fans it becomes successful again, but there's no doubt this season has been another disappointment, like the last 3 or 4 have been . In truth , we could all see by the end of October that we were in for another drab season this year.
