Table since Matos took over

interesting point (based on the table above): we are No.6 in GF and number 3 in Ga.

I think the aim next season should be to break the top 10. It’s something we’ve not managed since Martin. Sides like Millwall, Coventry have improved gradually, increasing their position bit by bit with every transfer window. We need to become a nearly team before we even think about play offs.
I think the model should be coventry and not Milwall. They look like a well crafted long term project and will win the league with names like Matt Grimes, jack bidwell and joel Lati….while Milwall will go back to their mid table position next season.

To be fair to Millwall, they’ve finished in the top 10 pretty consistently across the last few seasons. I wouldn’t say that this season is a total anomaly for them. They had a slight dip finishing 14th last season but they’ve been doing much better than we have since Cooper left. They always seem to be in the play off conversation. While nowhere near the level of Coventry, their recruitment has been pretty good considering they don’t have the best budget.

It pains me to say all of that as I don’t like the way they play football or sections of their fanbase but they’ve been on an upward curve for a while, that’s where we need to be.

Coventry & Millwall have both been building a side of making the playoffs then promotion .
Coventry made the playoffs last season ,
Their recruitment has been excellent the signing of Matt Grimes probably the final piece of the jigsaw .
Unlike most Championship their firepower is different class , the front 4 score goals for fun plus what they have on the bench .

Millwall recruitment very good they keep adding to the squad .
Their loan players are good .
Not so pleasing on the eye as Coventrt they are hard to beat love defending resilient with a canny manager .
Playing home or away they are so consistent

The Swans with their recruitment last summer Matis taking over the clarity of players needed is there to see .

Looking at Millwall’s final positions over the last 10 seasons, it’s pretty clear they’re a classic mid-table side (not too different from us). This season feels more like an outlier than a new standard. That said, I do agree their style of football, and parts of their fanbase, can be quite negative.

Mid-season I called it: Coventry & Ipswich for automatic promotion (got that wrong, was convinced Ipswich would win the league but now it looks too late for them). Still, those two were easily the strongest and most oppressive sides we faced this season. I had doubts about Coventry after playing them away, but their performance at the Swansea.com really showed their level.

For me, Middlesbrough will take the final promotion spot through the playoffs.

A couple of those season finishes doesn't tell the whole story .
Going into the last game last season they were leading at Burnley which had them in the playoffs they conceded 2 second half goals .
They finished on 66 points to Bristol City 68

Another season they were going for the playoffs going into the final game .
They have been improving .

I think Southampton with their momentum will go up through the playoffs .

Opinions eh. I didn’t think Coventry were anything special when we played them down here. On another day it ends 3-3 or even a win for us.

In the 2 games against the Swans they didn't play that well ,won both games .
They have had a great season so consistent .
85 points from 42 games ,
25 wins 10 draws .
Scored 84 goals conceded 42 GD 42 .
Scored 3 goals or more away from home on multiple occasions .

Didnt play well but beat us 3-0 away from home. I wish we had such a laxurey

Mate, we're Brazil, Coventry obviously struggled to score against us in a 3-0 win.. the same bullsh*t was said when Man City beat us 3-1.. if we didn't lose our football matches we would've made it into the Champions League.. our statistical and data analysis approach is world leading.. we are an elite midtable championship team or something
