So let me get this straight, Andy Burnham, the man who lost to Corbyn in a leadership election and is essentially a better dressed northern version of Boris Johnson is the answer?
In what way is Andy Burnham a version of Boris Johnson, because I've never heard that before?

Starmer is summed up by that King’s speech. Disappointing and underwhelming.

Here’s a low cost alternative that I mostly stole:

Energy: You are being screwed by energy companies, mostly foreign owned and exploiting the useless regulation the Conservatives had in place. We will change that and put in place regulations and a regulator who will put customers first.

Water: Your water is being polluted and you are being ripped off in water bills, mostly by foreign owned companies exploiting the useless weak regulation the Conservatives had in place.

Media: The media are intrusive and many allow and legitimise lies and mislead. Allowed to mark its own homework for too long. We will introduce Levenson 2 (ditched by the Conservatives) to outlaw intrusion, and we will go further requiring all media outlets operating in the UK to be owned by a UK citizen and taxpayer

Social Media: we will immediately legislate to force social media companies to act with real intent to prevent posting of racist tropes, child abuse etc etc. we will take powers to close or suspend the operation in the UK of any company deemed not to be making sufficient efforts (judged by outcomes). This will come under our new regulation system, with these companies treated as publishers, just like their rivals in the printed media

Think Tanks: Or so called think tanks. We will legislate to ensure that the funding and vested interests of these are completely transparent. Any outfit not clearly transparent will be suspended.

Tax evasion. Too many of the wealthy, especially super rich, pay marginal tax rates lower than the average person, often lower than those on minimum wage. We will legislate to outlaw all tax avoidance schemes not individually and specifically cleared by HMRC - the assumption will be standard tax rates apply unless otherwise approved by HMRC

Corporate Tax: All companies in the UK will be taxed on Turnover, not profit. Stop all the transfer pricing and other bollocks that the likes of Amazon use to pay nothing in tax.

Europe: We are abandoning those stupid red lines on Customs Union and Single Market. These have destroyed UK Growth because of Farage and the Tories.

Then let the Tories and reform oppose and hang them out to dry as maintaining the status quo.

Instead, Starmer, and whoever follows (because he’s toast, just a matter of timing) has not only thrown away the last great golden opportunity to put this country back on the rails, but the Labour Party is done. Back to its favourite role of infighting, opposition, and barking at clouds.

As for whoever takes over. Just look at them!! The unreformed media will absolutely bury them. That includes ’saviour’ Burnham, a thunderbird puppet that will probably last 10 minutes before his halo is gone…and he really is their only hope!

Depressing.

From 11 years ago but rather telling

He should have worn specs. Notice how they all do that to try and look ‘serious’ despite not wearing them ever. Raynor is the latest. Sunak, Starmer, Burnham. I reckon it’s all plain glass lenses.

This could, of course, be me barking at clouds.

The point on taxing turnover over profit quite nicely hits the big companies for the Government but totally screws the SME's and start ups.. again a strategy that would further kill the high street and entrepreneurs trying to run a business and employ people.

It can be tuned. They need to nail the Amazons of this world.
