That's the main thing for me. We have so many players who can't do the basics well.Agree. I was all for the bounce and think it's starting to slightly show Sheehans lack of experience. Again, I like the guy and comes across well and cannot fault him wanting us to play forward, but he needed to coach the team to be less sloppy. Control the ball the right way. This is not his sole fault as it happened all season, but I'm starting to think we do need that fresh back room staff, someone who has experience and go to basics. Burnley did nothing special today. They just did the basics well. There is no forgiving giving the ball away like we did today, easy passes given away. That's still bad coaching no doubt.
The squad is very weak especially when it comes to creativity in the final 3rd.That's the main thing for me. We have so many players who can't do the basics well.
There are so many players on the out list in the summer that we will have a rebuilding task.
The other problem is we also have players still in contract to offload.
We need stability now or next season will be another struggle.
Without picking any coach or tactics it does beg the question what have we been doing in training for the last few years. The squad is very weak especially when it comes to creativity in the final 3rd.
It's very weak i agree, but why don't we try something different, Eom at 10 instead of a mostly ineffective Cullen, why not play Cooper and Bianchini today if others were tired , give Ginnelly a run out , just try something different, it couldn't have produced any less points than we picked up at Watford and today. The squad is very weak especially when it comes to creativity in the final 3rd.
Professional footballers who cant spot a pass or shot
Agreed.
For any manager to even atleast get us a solid mid table finish will need to see a solid summer of recruitment with creativity number one priority whilst also getting in new defenders and midfielders......it's going to be a big task and that's after we secure our championship safety.Takes to do what?
Keep us ticking over and stumble over the line to championship safety? Yes
To move the club forward and achieve a top 10 finish next season? No probably not
Whilst I agree with the programming of the players comment as I've used the phrase robotic many times I still believe that they do not spot obvious non risky passes that can put us on the front foot.Professional footballers who have spent most of the last four years (or however long they've been at the club) being drilled to not take any chances. If a risky shot is on, then to pass it instead. There were signs that they were being deprogrammed, but today was very much a backwards step.
The groans and annoyance from the stands every time the shot on was not taken or a player turned backwards instead of attacking the space spoke volumes.
In a nutshellTakes to do what?
Keep us ticking over and stumble over the line to championship safety? Yes
To move the club forward and achieve a top 10 finish next season? No probably not
Oh don't go there. I suggested Allen till the end of the season and got treated like a Cardiff fan in the camp who had shagged everyone's wivesIt never ceases to amaze me how people fall for a few wins in a honeymoon period. How many times does that happen after a manager leaves? Does that make him the right man to grow the club? Of course it bloody doesn’t.
That’s why I was suggesting a Jack legend to take over for a short run when Williams was on brink. Did I think that was a long term answer of course not! It’s just for a breather to buy time and get the right man not another mistake.
Sheehan would be the appointment of a club with zero ambition and destined to plummet.
Everything there except Eom at 10. I'd have to think hard about playing him at 12. Apart from excellent Boro goal has done nothing to convince me he is a professional footballer.
