O’Brien & Darling

Can't argue with his impact, although it would be interesting to see how he'd fare if Williams was still here with his doomball tactics, stifling everyone that comes within contact with it.
It doesn't bare thinking about, thank fuk his day has come and gone, really hope Sheehan gets the gig, he's been here a good few years now and he gets what SCFC is all about and has embraced the club.

We let him go and it'll be a bigger injustice than when we disgustingly got rid of Guidolin.

Matt Grimes was on £24k a week with us, Franco is £20k.

I don’t think £25k for Darling is too bad to keep him here.

It would cost an awful lot more to pay a transfer fee and wage to get anyone near his quality
Grimes wasn't worth that wage either and not sure if Franco is actually on 20k per week.

Darling is decent, that's about it.

He's better than decent Smurph and he's still young for CH, Cabango still makes mistakes mind, but they compliment each other and have an understanding of each other, for me anyway.

I'd rather he stays than leaves. Just don't think we should be paying him over the odds.

For me Darling and Cabango have improved under Sheehan and are as good as any Central Defenders outside the top 3.

Cabango has really grown with the responsibility and honour of being Team Captain.

I'd focus my efforts on finding another one or two decent Centre Backs to provide cover and rotate with Cabando and Darling. We need strength in depth.

I would be amazed if Franco was on £20k per week. We could be paying him a quarter of that and it'd still be a massive increase on what he's likely to have been earning at a lower Portuguese club.

I'd say 10k maximum.

He could easily go on and earn that type of wage if he continues to develop his game.

Brewster is another not mentioned in a list of best loans. If we measure only on impact here, not what they did later in their careers, O'Brien (good as he has been) would maybe just crack the top 10.

Definitely behind Brewster, Britton, JDG, Guehi, Paul Anderson, Gylfi, Borini for me.

The issue with this isn't so much the wage for the players mentioned, although that in itself is an issue, it's the knock on effect to the rest of the squad who will then come knocking wanting parity, which we cannot afford.

Yep. Wages are the club killer.

We simply don't have the income to just pay players whatever they want, no matter how good they are.

We've been pretty compliant on P&S/FFP so far as I understand it - although some will say we're sailing close to the wind on it.
We definitely can't afford to break any wage structure we have.
Not worth risking the long term future of the club for one or two players.
