I think the owners sense a gem in Sheehan and are really going for it.

If we are in with a sniff in January I think they'll spend again and really push

It's less about Sheehan I think, it's more that they seem to show an interest in the football team and they probably realise it's been neglected for years and needs a bit of TLC.

That doesn't guarantee success of course, but it's definitely an improvement on what we had before.

I agree, they took a while to appoint him even on great form. Someone behind the scenes is obviously a big advocate for him but equally I sense there's a few who aren't completely sold on him.

I would also have faith in those behind the scenes to act quickly if it did go wrong with us and Sheehan. Look at Coleman, only one poor window under their control and he’s gone despite being a shareholder. I just hope they won’t need to act and Sheehan is the right appointment.

Plenty of teams try to buy their way out of this division. Doesn't often end well.
It seems we're actually going about our business in a structured, resourceful way.
I'd like to see a few more out the door and replaced with quality.
But as many have said, it's just a refreshing change from the last several years.

My concern for Sheehan is what they will expect from him at board level and what if some of the signings don't hit the ground running.

What will be the level of expectancy in league position come around November time?
Will they heap pressure on him if the new players are not making a big difference?

Hopefully things click early on and we are minimum a solid mid table position atleast come November time.

I would be more than happy with us being 3-6 points off the playoffs and 6-9 points away from relegation by that point. It might not seem it, but that would represent progress from the last couple of seasons. Then hopefully we could push on from there (although March onwards looks tough).

The big thing is how will the new players perform. Under Watson we signed something like 14 players. Looked like club was backing the manager and wanted to strengthen the team but all we got was a bunch of crap.

This new crop look like different sauce. So fingers crossed

Shame we didn’t do this last season in a weak league… the league looks far stronger this season in my opinion.

Building on last year with another top half season would be a good effort.

I’m predicting a 9th place finish.

Charlton/Wrexham. Dont see Charlton/Wrexham being any stronger than previous promoted teams. Depends on what Wrexham spend tho

Ipswich. Wasnt impressed in any way by the Ipswich team that went up and losing Delap, Omari etc they will look like the team from that promo season as opposed to a prem Lge team coming down and still having a prem lge squad

Leicester. 2 days ago. A Kieran Maguire interview.

Leicester could face a double points deduction. ie 2 deductions.

Thinks its quite possible. One for 23/24 and another for 24/25

Add on top of that that the owners King Power are in serious financial difficulties.

Southampton, hard to say but probably my fav for finishing top

Birmingham on a bounce back and money poured into transfers last summer and this should be up there

Think we could well have another season of 70pts being enough for a play off place. Just my thrupenny bits worth of not knowing anything about anything

Not sure I buy the season being far stronger

The average is a bit higher perhaps but the upper ceiling is a lot lower without Burnley and Leeds around.
Leicester are a mess, Southampton not much better and Ipswich are losing members of their squad left and right
Sheff Utd are having to cut their cloth with reduced parachute payments for the 2nd season in the championship

Many teams see this season as the biggest opportunity in half a decade to make a proper splash and a tilt at the play offs and are spending accordingly

He will be handled in the same way as the vast majority of other managers, measured by results.

You can add Hull City placed under an embargo - magicdaps post

and

Sheff Weds just got another embargo added to the 2 they already have. Failure to pay transfer fees to other clubs.

If they want to get out from under the embargos they now have to settle 3 of them. Players wages, Transfer fees not paid, HMRC taxes not paid.

Sheff Weds almost certain to get a points deduction.

Keep this type if news coming and all the teams will start the season on -15 pts.

Leics. Weds. Who is next Hull?

Sadly the Hull news wouldn't stop them from being our reported main competition for McBurnie as he is classed as a free agent
