Summer Transfer Window

No it
You comparing our signings with prem standard ..
[/QUO No it was a tongue in cheek comment.
But establushed championship players are expensive especially the good ones.

The club have done a fantastic job with recruitment I like to look at the positives and see how they go.

This just goes to highlight how you can't please some people. We have had arguably our best window in a while bringing in targets who on paper have huge potential and some people still find a way to complain.

Yes some are unproven, but how are any clubs in our situation meant to bring in proven players whilst being on a smaller budget and comply by financial regulations? Excitement about the unknown and potential of the season would be the more appropriate thing here, not complaining and dragging people down.

Just saying about adjustment and bedding in new players into this league

Who isn't pleased?

I've not read anyone saying they're not pleased with the business we've done. It's great to see us filling the squad up, it's great to see us not waiting till deadline day to pick up waifs and strays. It gives Sheehan a fighting chance of starting pre-season with a bang.

All people are pointing out is that we don't currently know how these new signings will fare until we see them play, because most of them haven't played Championship football before. There's nothing negative about that, no one's "dragging people down" it's just common sense. It's called critical thinking, engaging your brain a bit, not acting like an 8 year old who can't wait to go to the first game just so they can have their new kit on and have their half time Pepsi Max.

Haven't named anyone, just pointing out the overall negativity and arguing recently at a time where we should be happy and excited. No offence meant mate honestly (y)

Those sites were quoting 6m euros or 5.1m pounds. Everybody knows whatever the price actually is it includes adds on etc so even if those numbers were accurate we probably wouldn't end up paying it all cos of the add on clauses. Anyway....

So you know we didn't pay 5m for Inoussa.
But you don't know know how much we did.
So bottom line is you don't know if we did or we didn't.
The two parts of your post seem to say different things?

But anyway. How do I know we didn’t pay 6 million Euros?

Because he’s worth nothing like that.

He may be a great player, let’s all hope so, but at the moment he’s played about 30 games in the top flight in Sweden, and before that has played for Valencia reserves and a team in the Spanish third division. And he’s 23 having done that, not 18.

It’s insanity to think he’s worth 6 million Euros with that background. Even the sites like footmob and transfermarkt who both famously completely overstate ‘value’ value him at between 2 and 3 m euros.

As I said before, we may have a deal where if he plays 50 times, then 100 times for us, then we get promoted to the premier league etc etc the fee ends up being that, but the agreed guaranteed deal for him will be nowhere near it. In fact, I’d be surprised if it was half of that.

Transfer values are usually completely overstated. I’ve seen transfers both in and out where the actual deal is literally nowhere near what the quoted amounts are.

There has equally been a ton of strikers signed from foreign leagues who have torn it up there but couldn’t cut it in the premier league for one reason or another

His argument that no matter the league you never know how someone will adapt to the difference in pace, strength, intensity and refereeing style is quite valid

You're not correct there. Inoussa was signed for 5 million, but on a 5 year contract with the payments spread over something like 3-5 years.
You are conflating three things.

One is guaranteed price (the transfer price agreed) which will not be 5 million quid for an unproven player who’s played 30 times or so in the Swedish first division.
Second is the length of contract. This matters for the purposes of amortisation of the transfer value. We spread the cost of the player over the length of the contract for the financial statements (and fair play rules).

Third is the agreed cash payments. These may be structured in all sorts of ways over the contract term. May be up front, may be three payments, may be more.
