It’s highly unlikely that I will watch a single ball of this. We have somehow arrived at the situation where the summer Teat calendar is basically over by the end of July. Rubbish.

Agree. And it’s a massive reason why the final game of a rare five Test series is being contested between two sides weakened through injury. They seem to have come to their senses a bit for next summer as the three test series against Pakistan starts in mid August.

And I’ve just seen that Steve Smith is in the “Welsh” Fire squad. If that isn’t a reason to want them to lose every game I don’t know what is.

Did I also read something about counties missing loads of players for the One Day Cup matches coming up because of the Hundred?

The one day cup runs alongside the Hundred and yes, its been effectively a second XI competition since the Hundred started, at least until the final which is now relegated to mid-September in Nottingham instead of the showpiece at Lord’s it used to be.

I can’t think of a single sport that is actually better for those that love it after the arrival of big money or subscription TV or spot betting. Football, Rugby, Cricket all ruined, even Snooker and Darts.

And now we move from one of the greatest Test series ever played to…this.

Looks like they’ll have to call it The Hundred and Twenty soon. If only we already had an existing 20 over competition that was effectively abandoned with no need.

The talk is that the amount of cash coming in, especially from India for this tournament is going to be the saving of County cricket for years to come when everything filters down, we'll see aye...
