As much as I have wanted to be positive about the new owners and Sheehan, today is no real surprise.

We had a ton of words from the owners on Friday... but words are just that unfortunately.

Yes some early signings in the bag, but new names mean diddly squat without quality. Nothing there to wow us despite Modric and Snoop.

A decent box to box midfielder - we couldn't even attract O'Brien - and striker are essential. Yet here we are, season started, and nothing of worth in sight.

There is no serious money to make us a force in this Division..mid table mediocrity is where we're at.

The last 10 years, in the main, have been so disappointing.

However, I'll be there again next Saturday, willing us on to better things

It's the hope that kills you 😊.

Slightly disagree with a few points.

You say there is no serious money to make... I would disagree. The work in the background and what has presented with snoop and modric will have significant effect and it won't happen over night but never underestimate power of notoriety and strength in the market.

Midfielder, hopefully the Brighton loan will make a decision to join us. If not we can moan later.

Striker, 100% agree.

New Oweners - I'm not sure what more you want? They clearly trying to improve the club, both financially and status, ala academy and buying players.

You are never going to see new players turn up on day 1,in the championship and be premier league players. It takes time.

Sheehan, granted pre season not good enough. I am willing to give him a chance see how he does with more players coming in.

The team and the club is still trying to fix years of issues. It's not gonna happen overnight.

As I’ve said for the last couple of years, when people have been shitting themselves about relegation or pissing themselves about promotion…we’ll be mid-table, fine, nothing special, there you go. Enjoy the season.

I’m happy with mid table, as long as we’re financially sustainable.
We have had mid table for the last 3 seasons and a lot of it has been utter garbage. I'm being honest , I'm looking to improve a lot over the next few seasons.

Mid table yes... but wouldn't it be nice to have some reasonable entertainment, pace, and a decent striker scoring a reasonable amount of goals, ideally from by- line crosses.

Yes I’d agree we need to be more watchable, without doubt. A 1-0 win and perform like today wouldn’t cut much mustard.

Let’s also be honest… a striker was the least of our concerns today. You could have put Haaland up top and he would have struggled with the lack of creativity and service behind him.
100%

I don't think our midfielders and striker had any interaction after the pre-game huddle.

We are massively missing our identity of Measured Control, Pace out wide and Zip & Execution up top.

Our USP has been diluted with Sheez-ball - he lacks the core footballing (++ other) intelligence to get us back to where we belong.

Just look at slitty-eyed O'Dear and Him at the 63rd minute on camera - tick as fack, tick as thieves - norra clue, in many ways.

We're far better than this shyte-show of 2nd rates.......get our Club back from these pretenders, 'prompto'.......

Poor post.

This is such the loser, pubic sector lens our Club has grown out of.

Raise the bar, re-calibrate, reset expectations.

The thread is 'Let's get real...', after all. FFS. Mun, Mon.

People need to manage their expectations.
Some of the clowns will be like rabid dogs if we’re not promoted by February.
I don't think it's a question of managing expectations, Dazza, if we continue to perform like that, we will be nailed on relegation candidates. The signs were all there in pre season, when we laboured against lower league opposition. I was hoping we would be better prepared and motivated for the first league game of the season, but I was hoping in vain. That showing was pathetic, and as others have said, the most disappointing aspect was the lack of attacking intent as the minutes ticked away in the second half. Its like the manager and the players don't realise that the object of the game is to score more goals than the opposition. There was no urgency, no aggresion, no plan for getting the ball into their penalty area.

The lack of O'Brien is a huge difference from the successful end of season run. I hope and pray we get this Brighton lad and he's capable of fulfilling that role. We also desperately need an effective striker. If we fail to secure both, its going to be a long old season.

I want to see a massive change of attitude on Tuesday night and on Saturday, when I'm coming over to see the first league home game.

I know Sheehan won't do it, but I'd like to see our strongest starting eleven line up against Crawley, one to start building up confidence and two to start playing attacking, scoring football. A front three of Ronald, Vip and Inoussa please.

I agree Darran said it on other streams, people (me included) wanted O brian but with the numbers we have had to replace player wise our budget , working within the rules we are under would possibly be cut severly and the numbers we sorly want along with quality would be out of our price range, we missed him and will miss him nothing we can do we have what we have its going to take time to sort
