We shouldn't get too carried away by today because they are a club in crisis, and in all honesty we should have gone there today expecting to get something.

That said, how many times have we gone to a crisis club in the past and made a pig's ear of it? It was a very professional performance, we didn't give them any encouragement at all and in the second half we could have run away with it.

The thing I like most about Sheehan is that he's done away with all the pissing about inside our own 18-yard box. He still wants us to play, but now we do it in areas where we aren't going to hurt ourselves. It's a long overdue dose of common sense. Long may it continue.

Are we following through on our 9pm deadline tonight?
I’d be surprised if we’ve put a hard deadline on this. Unless we have another lined up and ready to go.

I know it’s been all over the internet for the last 24 hours btw.

We will obviously have to work in the background to make a quick move if it falls apart.

I watched Boro against Sheff Utd earlier and Boro looked very good

We should have picked up a draw and I didn't see their other two games but they are 4 for 4 so far this season and the early pace setters.
If we’d have gone balls out with our strongest line up we’d have at least drawn. We have them the points with hardly any resistance. This team today would have beaten them (obviously without Stam the man).

I think that's an area not many have discussed. Our fitness levels. They seem to have gone up alot. We have teams going at us only for so long but we seem to be able to match it and keep going right to the end
Inoussa dropped off, but that's to be expected with his first season.
I said it throughout Martin’s and Williams tenures that we were nowhere near the required fitness levels. That just showed how clueless and unprofessional those two were. O believe Duff tried to address it but wasn’t there long enough to have any real impact. We are like I said light years different to this time last season.

Strange as it sounds. I would see the Idah situation maybe being a blessing in disguise with him going back. OK so if we do sign him and keep VP I'll be super happy. But I think it's one in one out.
No way. He wants two high end competitive strikers. Maybe now we won’t need to get a second one in. Well done Vip !

Cullen's reputation seems to rest largely on a good five or six weeks he had for Wales and us between November and December last season.

Scored three goals in 17 appearances for both until 19th November, then eight goals in nine games to Boxing Day. After that, three goals in 25 games up to the end of the season, with three assists all season in all competitions. The season before that, seven goals and five assists in 49 games.

We do need another striker, but to ensure that we never use Cullen there again as opposed to replacing Vipotnik. Can keep him around as a backup midfielder maybe.
Cullen has one type of goal in him - tap in from close range. Build the team around that and he'll score plenty of goals for us, if we manage to get the ball to his feet. Sadly no team can afford to focus their entire goal scoring strategy on such a limited option, particularly when it is so easy to defend against.

We do seem to have eight to ten players to choose from in central midfield.depending on who is included as a 10. The starting line up being improved by a strong bench is a good situation and the new signings have been a huge leap forward. Four of them are outstanding but let's keep our stars up our proverbial sleeves.

Pretty sure Cullen has scored a few from outside/edge of the box but I still don't think he should lead the line as he's not really a striker, a hard worker yes but shouldn't be in the mix as a CF

It is a skill in itself to know where and when to be, and perhaps the only area where he's arguably better than Vip.

But otherwise yeah. He's so limited in basically every other requirement of a forward, and not up to much else even in the position that some people think he's good at, that he really shouldn't be getting much game time in a team with playoff ambitions.

I'd have not been bothered to see him leave when his contract was running out. Instead we extended it.

100%. Think Duff tried but as you said wasn't here long enough. Williams training was rumoured to be terrible and many players reportedly thought it was basic and laboured.

Duff's training was from the 1970s. Running without the ball is generally bollocks, especially when you can do drills/small sided games with the ball that gets players running as hard and in game specific situations
