He offers more than Widell does and Yalcouye is only on loan until January
He's 25, made over one hundred appearances for the club and finds himself on loan at league One Wigan where he's made three appearances by al accounts.

We've all seem enough of Ollie Cooper to realise his time with us is probably up.

I'm not saying hes a long term option, but until Widell can bulk up or get use to the pace it might be wise to bring him back January, especially as I say Yalcouye is probably going back.

Cooper could barely get in the team last season, he's got no chance of even making the bench this time around hence why he's at Wigan who are a league below us and struggling to get a game there.

He wouldn't be here to be a starter, just like Widell isn't a starter or even sub now, he'd be back up while Widell plays for the u21s or maybe even goes back out on loan. We cant go buying anyone else to cover Widell. Cooper is capable of doing a job filling a gap in the squad.

Cooper is done as a Swansea City player. Just not good enough for what we want to achieve. He'll almost certainly never play for us again.

There is absolutely no point in recalling a player who has no future here. He's not done much on loan so far, but hopefully he can get into the team and play well enough to convince someone to pay something for him.

I'd rather Widdell be involved, but he's not even on the bench at the moment, so there's no 'hole' in the squad that Cooper would be needed to fill anyway.

Unless you have some inside information,

Swansea City sign Malick Yalcouyé on loan

Official site, 14/8/2025

Swansea City is delighted to confirm the signing of Malick Yalcouyé on loan for the 2025-26 season, subject to international clearance and visa approval.

I’ll stick my neck out and say that there’s a very good player there. Had he been on the bench he could have been an option today. A manager should be able to tactically mix it surely and not be bound by a favourite system.
I don’t think Sheehan is capable.

100%, was always out of his depth and there was far too much sentiment for him just because he came through the ranks. He has not pushed on since getting his first string of appearances under his belt here and is not putting in good performances for Wigan in league 1. Get rid ASAP, Cullen should be next to go.

Cooper can't get in the Wigan side in league one.......

Widell has been poor so far, but I suppose we can afford to let him develop with Yalcouye here. Or maybe we can recall Cooper in January too.
Recall Cooper to play in front of Widdell? No offence but that’s plain crazy - like turning the clock back to Steve Coopers era.
Widdell isnt playing because Sheehan doesn’t know how to set up an attacking team - hence the boringly predictable fare we’ve been served up so far. That much is plain as day. I’ve been extremely disappointed with our start to the season considering the players we’ve recruited . The board will have their opinions too and with that outlay will be demanding far better.
The Leicester game, who Wrexham competed far better with a week before was a painful watch and everything from the squad selected to the tactics employed showed we may have regressed from the end of last season.
I might be on my own saying all that but I can’t see any progression at all.
