• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

The elephant in the room is lack of physicality in our midfield especially. The quality of Yalcouye Galbraith Widdel Eom and to lesser extent Inoussa and Ronald gives teams a blueprint to play against us. Stemenic does give us some presence Fulton a body and Franco limitations.

The Southampton game may suit is rather than Watford, Millwall or Birmingham.

Set peices and crosses to unmarked opposition remains a problem which requires addressing

All depends what you deem physicality.

Recall Cooper to play in front of Widdell? No offence but that’s plain crazy - like turning the clock back to Steve Coopers era.
Widdell isnt playing because Sheehan doesn’t know how to set up an attacking team - hence the boringly predictable fare we’ve been served up so far. That much is plain as day. I’ve been extremely disappointed with our start to the season considering the players we’ve recruited . The board will have their opinions too and with that outlay will be demanding far better.
The Leicester game, who Wrexham competed far better with a week before was a painful watch and everything from the squad selected to the tactics employed showed we may have regressed from the end of last season.
I might be on my own saying all that but I can’t see any progression at all.
I’m starting to have my doubts too. Would love him to prove me wrong.

I was thinking more about Sheehan setting up an attacking team mate.
Apologies.

On that matter then I am in your boat also. I can't see him going from 2 work horse midfielders to a proper creative 10.
I think he values hard work over a creative spark from his central midfielders.

Widell was signed under a Williams regime where he played a 10, Cullen usually. We play two 8’s under Sheehan.

Widell very rarely played at 10 for his previous club.
He was mainly a Central Midfielder(no 8) who occasionally played out wide.

He may not be a 10 but he's a damn sight more creative than any of our other 8's. He'll lose the ball more than the others but that's because he's trying to create someone rather than playing the safe ball. There needs to be room in the team for that.

He’s not a championship 8, he doesn’t have the defensive side of his game. He would most certainly have been brought in as that 10 under Luke, the Cullen role.

He’s clearly an excellent player though, you don’t get called up for Sweden if you aren’t. I think it’s a matter of being patient with him to get his defensive capabilities to a point he can play the 8.

I expect to see more of him as the weeks and months go on.

In a game today where our attacking play was non existent Sheehan has to stop this two 8’s experiment trying to shoehorn Franco in and either play him at DM (dropping Stamenic) and bringing Widdell in.

Didn't Stamenic play well on international duty as more of number 10? Rather than his Fulton role? I would possibly keep Stamenic in and drop Franco for Yalcouye.
