I've been a Raiders fan since stumbling upon them during Channel 4's NFL coverage of the strike-shortened 1982 season.

I lived within reasonably easy reach of their home grounds in the 1990s so got to attend a few games. The atmosphere at these matches was always edgy (at a minimum) and sometimes really bloody nasty. To be honest, looking back, I didn't massively enjoy them. However as the Raiders rarely sold out and were blacked out in the local area, going to matches was the only way of seeing their games.

The Raiders have been so bad for so long that nowadays I view them as a bit of a joke. Their apparent compulsion to make risky acquisitions never seems to wane.

Maybe next year, eh?

I'm assuming Geno is one of the risky acquisitions? Darnold for the Seahawks is a massive upgrade

Some big love here for San Fran. I have no liking for them whatsoever despite having an amazing holiday there a couple of years ago.
Tennessee titans for me , been to the stadium several times for the music festival. Also been to see Nashville SC in soccer at Geodis park. Titans are building a state of the art new stadium right next to their current home.

Living here a stones throw from Ford Field - the most encouraging thing is the total absence of love for the Green Bay Fudge Packers. They are normally a magnet for foreign fans whose brains have been addled by warm beer.
In fact @Smurph is the only one who went with an NFC North rival - and no love for the Vikings either :)

You really are an educated and classy bunch!

Hmm I’m not completely sure, there are a couple of occasional posters who have previously declared an interest in the Packers.

Was it you I had the conversation with about my mate playing with Billy Droze?

At the game vs the Browns, my wife completely surprised me. I'd already bought a good amount of clothes, usually college football related so thought I had no chance of any Lions merch at the game. Thought I would try and twist her arm to get a jersey but thought that was a long shot. Once I got to the clubshop I saw they had the Football x Football top (Detroit "soccer" style shirt) and I had to have it as I hadn't seen it for purchase even online over here. So put that in the basket and then she pointed to the black away kit and asked who I wanted. Took my chance while I had it and got Hutchinson 97 after much debate!

By the time we got to Chicago I had pretty much run out of clean clothes and was unsure whether I could wear the new black shirt in the city but only had another lions normal t-shirt to wear. Didn't end up facing too much grief especially once people heard the accent.

Yes, i think it was.

23rd September 2012. A day firmly etched into my mind. Detroit @ Tennessee.

Any NFL fan needs to watch this highlights reel. I was back and forth to Shelbyville TN every six weeks or so during this time, so I was quite big into the Titans. This is almost level with Swans 5-4 Palace in terms of sporting drama that I have seen live. It was a scorching hot day and we’d had a fair old party in the car park beforehand, so by the time it got to half way through the fourth quarter my head was already cooked. Then it all kicked off! I can’t remember the numbers but it was something like 35 points scored inside the last 7 minutes of the game; Detroit scored twice in the last 18 seconds (how the hell to you concede like that?) to force overtime. The Titans won it 44-41 in the end.

That does sound like the Swans v Palace match, seems like an incredible game and result. Reading your posts, you give the impression you quite miss Nashville and Tennessee in general.

Watch those highlights and if you haven’t got time for the full reel then fast forward to Q4, it’s quite unbelievable.

Yes, I miss Nashville, Murfreesboro and Shelbville a great deal and it’s now probably five years since I last went there, but hey-ho work patterns shift around. The honky-tonk bars along Broadway aren’t repeated anywhere else I have been.

I go to the Chicago game every year and it is pretty friendly - and a great City to visit. Soldier Field is shocking to either pee or buy beer - but the sightlines are good.
Just as a general warning- as there seems to be quite a bit of interest… DO NOT wear opposition colours in Philadelphia - or even talk funny in the stadium. Too many horror stories- it is a regular pattern of lunatic violence and intimidation 😱

Maybe next year,
It's a great example of when things aren't good off the pitch that can reflect on the pitch. It's not just in our football. As a Lions fan and having read up on their history, they were so badly run by William Clay Ford and that ran to the pitch. Not that I know too mich but the Brown's seem the same.

Al Davis did worlds of good through their history but perhaps not in more recent times.

They had a great range of merch in the 90’s. I had a magnificent L.A. Raiders jacket.
