Titans get their first win of the season in crazy style 22-21 with a walk off field goal. What the hell did I just watch.
Cardinals scored TDs on their first 3 drives, they were stomping all over us (it would have seemed insanity for anyone to suggest they would not score another point). Titans offence was just abysmal. Lucky to get 6 points (2 FGs). Offense was somehow even worse in the 3rd quarter, barely able to get a 1st down.
However......
Our defence stepped up and Arizona started to crumble. Then....(so funny), their RB breaks through the line and runs 70 yards to the endzone to score a touchdown...but the f*cking idiot dropped the ball before crossing the line (yes, that STILL happens) and it gets overturned. Would have been 28-6 and game even more over than it looked. After that, momentum turned towards the Titans. Cam Ward came alive, drove down the field and Pollard gets a TD.
Then we get a stop and we drive 60 yards down the field and then one of the bizarrest TDs I've seen. Ward throws, it gets tipped and one of the defense catches it for an interception - would likely have been game over...but he takes a few steps and falls down and the ball comes out before contact. Then there's a scramble and one of their players did his version of that goofy penalty kick thing that Trunds does where he pretends he's going to pick up the ball, but kicks it instead, that shoots the ball back towards the endzone, other defenders try and stop it, but just end up pushing it back further into their own endzone and Locket comes round and jumps on it, TD Titans. Comedy stuff.
We make another stop and get down the field again and our kicker whose missed 4 FG already this season, including a PAT today, get's the walk-off FG. Watching stuff like that is why sports fans exist. The Titans could not have been more dead and buried in that game, but somehow came back to win. I can't imagine what I'd be feeling if I was a Cardinals fan. That was brutal.
Never cheered so hard for the Titans! Couldn't have been a much better week for the Niners. Beat one division rival on Thursday against the odds considering how many players are missing, then our other 2 division rivals both lose to walk-off field goals yesterday.
I'm still not convinced the 49ers can really challenge this season (we've got a top-heavy squad with a lot of money going to a small group of players and are reliant on rookies and second year players to plug gaps), but can't have asked for much more than being 4-1 before taking on Mayfield and the Bucs this weekend.
If we somehow win that one, Lynch and Shanahan may decide to part with valuable draft capital to go all in on this season. Trey Hendrickson on a 1-year rental to replace Bosa?
