This is going better than anyone could have dared to hope.
They'll probably score plenty in the final quarter but it's been a decent effort.

If you see it as a standalone match it’s another 50 points conceded, which is terrible, but if you see it as the start of something, there were certainly a few green shoots, and more than expected. Plus some confirmation of players that probably won’t make it, which is also important. The real positives were Dan Edwards and Alex Mann, and of course having Zammit back. They didn’t look out of place and will get better. The rest. Of. The backs are not international standard, although Rogers at least put his Argentine nightmare behind him. Assi didn’t look outclassed neither, but I fear the Bok scrum.

Unfortunately we are underpowered everywhere. We can’t have tinytot Murray at full back against the boks kicking, but we will, and Zammit and other English/french based players won’t be available. Hawkins should stay at centre, a serious upgrade on Thomas.

Hollie had a very poor game as ref, only reffing one side and using perception bias from minute 1 to 80. She’s not alone in that, but it’s still galling.

Even more galling, is our best teams of 2010 to 2019 would have killed that all black team. God must hate us.

The thing is, our best teams of that era would have played the All Blacks first 15. They made 12 changes and one positional from the England game. They wouldn’t have done all that if we were half decent.
Dan must be persevered with, he’s raw but clearly talented. Zammit is beginning to get a rugby brain to go with his speed. Green shoots but a very long way to go.

I hadn’t realised it was their stiffs. I hope the boks do the same.
