I don't know if this has already been posted, but this article in Wales Online was interesting from Vitor - it's clear the fans are responding to his style :

Vitor Matos has thanked the Jack Army for roaring his side over the line against Bristol City on Saturday.

The home fans showed their support for their side as the contest approached its conclusion, and Matos believes the contributions of the Jack Army were huge in seeing his side over the line.

"I think the fans today were unbelievable," Matos said.

"The last 15 minutes they played the game with us. They tackled the Bristol players with us. They created the counters with us and when you have that the players feel it

They feel they can compete against anyone and when you create that, the feeling in the stadium is outstanding."

We would probably have to take somewhere between 25 and 30 points from the last 39 on offer to have a shout at the playoffs. Matos isn't far off 2 points per game but there is a difference between getting performances when there is no pressure to get points and when the carrot of the playoffs is on the line.

Regardless of if we make it or not this season Matos has been spectacular and our best bit of business in the summer might be keeping him.

With wingers we often get fixated on whether they can beat a man. Actually you don't need to beat anyone - you just need a half yard and quality in the delivery.
Imagine if we had a right footed Tymon? His delivery is exceptional, and if we had anything even 10% as good on the right we would be scoring more than 39 goals this season.
We might have one in Galbraith?
He has a hell of a right foot on him and I thought he would be doing what Tymon does on the other side but for some reason he doesn’t?

.

bump....

what an oytstanding ongoing massive turnaround, in so many ways

we have a proper top notch coaching team leading a proper near-top notch playing squad with oodles of latent talent to leverage - and a massive pleasure to watch

hats off to our top notch senior leadership team, owners and ofc our best in class recruitment apparatus

sell burgess and vip inevitably in summer and use that towards a ball playing centre half, right back, 2 right wingers and a striker and we'll be a force next season

No bollocks on the road though?

Overall he's doing a very decent job. There are certain things that I like about his style very much, and a couple of things that annoy me. Pretty par for the course really.

I like the fact that his post match interviews are generally pretty honest and accurate about where we've gone wrong, but must admit some frustration about how often we've done the same things in the next game regardless.

Matos looks to have played a blinder with Key. Took him out of the firing line when the heat was red hot, worked on some things with him behind closed doors and then brought him back when both parties were happy. Seeing Key get pushed towards the fans two games running is so telling of a man who knows how to handle people.

I think part of the problem over the last few years has been we’ve had no real alternative to replace Key/Tymon if they’ve had a dip in form or need resting.

Hopefully Key will be back to the form of his first 18 months with us but I’d still have a full back who’s able to rotate/replace either of those two near the top of my wish list for the summer.

The full back slots are where we are lightest, definitely an area of focus this summer. Our bench tonight said it all, five players who can play in and around the centre of the park, and only Joel Ward as defensive cover.

Three players who are capable of starting 30+ games - Centre Half, Fullback, Winger - then a case of replacing anyone we sell.

The winger has to be a game changer with end product in terms of goals & assists if we want a proper run at the playoffs next season.

Matos is doing an absolutely fantastic job overall. I genuinely think we’d have been relegated or very close to it if he hadn’t come in.

Good sub with Ward as well. Key started to struggle with defending and rather than usually waiting Matos took him off. Yes there was times we left gaps. But Ward fitted into the defense to cover.

Be interesting to see if Lissah or Wilson get a look in. Lissah you would think would be a cert to feature heavily in pre-season at least. Wilson maybe less so. Lissah may be able to do two of those jobs you mention.

For me the biggest gap is a ball playing CB. If we're going to play a higher tempo game, then we need to move possession out of that deep triangle (between Cabango, Burgess and usually Stamenic) far quicker than we currently do.

Otherwise we may be surprised about who moves in and out. Certainly Matos appears to be a bigger fan of some players than us lot on the forums.
