• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

Players we've hated but perhaps admired as well.

Andy bastard Carroll.

He must have scored 8 in 5 against us or something daft like that. Despite not being able to trap a bag of cement

Ross Jenkins Watford a bit like a Daddy Longlegs a big part of their rise to the top .
Good shout. We had some cracking games with them Tosh vs Taylor. I seem to remember (can never know these days) Kevin Moore scoring with a tackle at Vicarage. Sailed over the goalie from 20 yards.

Robbie Savage.
Not for his (meagre) football skills, but for the way he used to try to wind up the East Stand faithful pre match, by coming over and pretending to warm up, touching his toes with his back to the crowd, but really sticking his arse out and saying "kiss that" 😉
Gorka sorted him out

Can I lower the stakes by adding Michael Chopra.
Came here to say Chopra - but don't think there was any admiration (unless you admire how much of a horrible k*nt the guy was?).

Notable mention for Victor Moses - will never forget that dive.

And Freddy Eastwood! I remember when there was the faintest rumbling that we might be in for him and thought oh thank fack for that at least he wont torment us now.

It was Watford who stopped us going up the season before we finally got promoted from Division 4, on the day Tosh got his Bells manager of the month award.(You can see the results for April that year below, if you have very good eyesight. Never complain about fixture congestion again)
It was as if Watford were saying. "You aint going nowhere without us."
We were neck and neck with them for a while after that.
They wiped the floor with us.
We beat Cambridge on the last day, at Cambridge, but to no avail. Top scorers in all Divisions, but to no avail.
8 year old me was devastated. What a waste. It made what came next all th emore special in that I had a refernce to that disappointment.(On reflection i should have put this in the other thread - 25 yrs of match memories, even though this was 50 yrs ago... christ)

The 3 games every Easter, Good Friday, Easter Monday pm and then the Tuesday evening. I remember them well and to my untrained eye there was no drop off in performance. Always a highlight of the season.

Undoubtedly if you'd stuck a black vest on each player, measured their xG, distances run with little purpose, and taught them to dive and roll theatrically, you'd surely be able to disprove this.

Well yes, but it was tired players playing against tired players.
I was a first 11 game back then. It's a squad game now.

Went to Cambridge for that last game, remember Bradford being the 4th placed side that year that stopped us gaining promotion.

Diego Costa. Horrible player to play against, loved a goal against us too. Easily one of the best strikers of the last 20 years though.
