    Summer Transfer Window

The biggest concern with Santos signing is that he has a chronic injury. He was out from the start of February to mid April with a pelvic injury. He played a few games at the end of the season, but I do wonder if the injury was there earlier, and this was the cause of his alleged slowing down...

    Summer Transfer Window

Yes, that's my impression. Although I think he's decent at long diagonals. I would hope that we're solid defensively in the side, and the early signs under Sheehan are that we're well organised defensively. Don't expect many goals or assists. The question for me is whether he's 3rd or 4th...

Evatt and Santos were both with Bolton for several seasons, so they should understand each other well. It could be that Evatt changed things at the start of the season which may have impacted on Santos' form. He clearly didn't have a great season last time but he still averaged 7 on Fotmob, so...

    Summer Transfer Window

Santos has consistently been one of the top performers in League One for tackles won, duels won and aerial duels won. It will be good to have a defender who's good at the basics. Not true of many defenders we've signed in recent seasons. Also, he's used to playing in a possession based side in...

    Summer Transfer Window

It's a huge ask for a youngster to go straight from academy football into a Championship side, especially at centre back. Lissah sounds promising but he needs experience on loan before he can seriously challenge for a first team place.

    Summer Transfer Window

Obviously pleased with Santos signing, who I assume is coming in as a squad player. There will obviously be some uncertainty about whether he's able to make the step up. Some players have a clear ceiling at a certain level, and struggle at the level above. Adam Armstrong springs to mind. Done...

Alex Matos could be a good backup to Erhahon, should he sign. 20 games on loan from Chelsea with then Championship Huddersfield in 23/24, then 21 games last season with Oxford. Excellent defensively, but needs work on his all round game. Only 20, so still learning the game.

Wrexham related, but some of his suggestions could be relevant to us. If Tymon is tempted away Beck could be a decent replacement.

    Summer Transfer Window

Espanyol have bid over £5 million for Jonathan Varane, a DM with QPR. Similar profile to Franco, although the latter has more of an all round game. Gives some indication of Franco's value, as a minimum.

I've seen comments suggesting Kyprianou is a decent player but not a great one. If true he might have made a decent squad utility player, but not a regular starter.

We need both. With Allen and Grimes gone and Fulton possibly going we would only have Erhahon as an out and out 6. Franco is used more as an 8. So we will need another 6. If he costs more then presumably Erhahon will be a bench option. Chances are we get a loanee as cover to Erhahon.

    Summer Transfer Window

Not in my book. If he's a squad signing, and a replacement for Fulton, then this looks a good signing. If he's intended as a starter I'm not so sure, but I do have a bit of faith in our recruitment team. It would be good to have more info on him.

    Summer Transfer Window

https://www.facebook.com/share/v/19PhM2ZMys/ Not exactly a glowing tribute. Had an indifferent season, presumably hindered by injury. Had his best season in 2023/24. Has a Grimes-lite profile. Perhaps a bit better defensively, but doesn't score, assist or create many chances. His profile is...

    FFP

The key thing for us is the allowable deductions for the academy, women's team and infrastructure. Our academy spend alone was £4.5 million in the last financial year, an astonishing amount for a Cat 2 academy. We should be comfortably within the allowable spend, although further big incomings...

    Summer Transfer Window

There are countless examples in the lower leagues of centre halves who play into their mid thirties. Ben Tozer, of Wrexham, has just retired aged 35. I'm surprised that anyone would argue the point. It's a well established truism that centre halves peak later and generally have longer careers...

    Summer Transfer Window

That's a very strong opinion unless you've seen a lot of Santos. If Santos comes it will be as a backup, and he will be aware of that. I don't think he's in a position to demand a starting position in a Championship side unless it's a recently promoted side, such as Charlton.

    Summer Transfer Window

Thiago Silva joined Chelsea at the age of 36 and promptly won the Champions league. He's still playing for Fluminese at the age of 40. Sergio Ramos starred for Real Madrid well into his 30s before moving to PSG. He's still playing at 39. Van Dijk, soon to be 34 has just been offered a two year...

Centre backs are coming into their prime at 29, so I can't see him being past his peak.

    Summer Transfer Window

I think he showed some classy touches, so there's definitely a player in there. He also only played a bit part in an unfamiliar side, which has to be factored in. He did well for Anderlecht, so I think he's better than he's shown consistently. But I would only sign him on a free for a sensible...

    Play-offs

For context Finn Azaz was the Championship's leading chance creator with 88 from 45 games. Hein created 110 chances from just 33 games, 50 per cent more on a 90 minutes basis than Azaz. Impressive.
