Summer Transfer Window

Football clubs typically post depreciation expenses annually, coinciding with their financial year-end. This is because they are usually required to prepare annual financial statements, and depreciation expense is a key component of those statements. While the calculation might be done monthly to track the impact throughout the year, the actual posting and reporting of the expense occur annually.
Reporting annually and calculating it based on actual dates are two different things.

Santos deserves the benefit of doubt and the opportunity to prove himself, however even as a replacement for Christie this is a disappointing signing.

What does it say?

Our youngsters are not good enough to step in when required (and let's face it Christie wasn't required a lot last season).

We don't have a pot to piss in !!

Montague has zero contacts / knowledge other than the lower leagues.

Or maybe we have pulled of a blinder and beat a host of clubs to his signature (I wonder what offers he actually had because his current L1 club didn't make him an offer).

Obviously pleased with Santos signing, who I assume is coming in as a squad player. There will obviously be some uncertainty about whether he's able to make the step up. Some players have a clear ceiling at a certain level, and struggle at the level above. Adam Armstrong springs to mind. Done very well at Championship level but floundered in the Premier League. But making the EFL team of the league 3 years in succession is about as strong a CV as you can present for making the step up. If nothing else, his age and experience should be an asset in the changing room. Given that he's available on a free and unlikely to command a big salary this is a low risk signing with a much bigger upside than downside.

It's a huge ask for a youngster to go straight from academy football into a Championship side, especially at centre back. Lissah sounds promising but he needs experience on loan before he can seriously challenge for a first team place.

deserves the benefit of the doubt...but a dissapointing signing - Hmmmm
Lets see him kick a ball eh?

Santos has consistently been one of the top performers in League One for tackles won, duels won and aerial duels won. It will be good to have a defender who's good at the basics. Not true of many defenders we've signed in recent seasons. Also, he's used to playing in a possession based side in Bolton under Evatt. So that should ease the transition.

I’ve seen some Bolton fans saying Evatt and his tactics have been part of the reason Santos has struggled, I would expect us to change slightly if he is required in a few games. Certainly don’t see this as a ball playing centre back signing.

Evatt and Santos were both with Bolton for several seasons, so they should understand each other well. It could be that Evatt changed things at the start of the season which may have impacted on Santos' form. He clearly didn't have a great season last time but he still averaged 7 on Fotmob, so he can't have been that bad.

Don't know what to make of this signing!

Will be be involved much and these type of signings come with no expectations so could suprise.

Obviously coming in as 4th choice, surely!?
