Captain Grimes on his way to Coventry City?

I should add-despite the 'Hollywood' money, Wrexham are another example of where as much focus has been on infrastructure development as the team-though always useful when your or family companies (Aviation Gin, Betty Buzz etc.) are involved in sponsorship-which is arguably where City's...

Captain Grimes on his way to Coventry City?

It's not that weird, as despite the Abu Dhabi money, they are run better than most clubs, have a better and arguably sustainable infrastructure and an academy that generates both players and money-Palmer, Delap, Olise and Sancho sold for more than 70 million and plenty more (like Celina) for...

    Sheffield Utd after Harry Darling?

In fairness to John Bond we went into receivership and came back from the dead the next season. Did a remarkable job in keeping us up after the disaster of Colin Appleton's tenure. That Friday night game with Rimmer's heroics was one of the best nights down at the old girl.

If you could bring back one (or more) player(s)...

As much as I loved the first Bony spell, I still think Bob Latchford was the best striker we have had. Just sad how far we have slipped. Even the poor teams of the mid-80s had some 'dog' even if they lacked ability. It's just so flat.

JdG is the most underrated player from our PL time.

Ash Williams. Probably could do a job still. Of the old Division 1 side would go for Robbie, though a thoroughbred centre forward like Bob Latchford would not go amiss either.

To a point. Research groups can be smaller but given expertise may be a discrete unit of 2-5 people. Unfortunately I have to lead a section of 9 academics from diverse areas, despite having no managerial training or skills.

I am astonished how many support staff there are in Bristol compared to Liverpool. It does make my life a lot easier for me, but there is clear redundancy of function is some areas with often 3-4 senior staff doing a role that needs 1-2 people

Redundancy is always more likely to hit academic and technical staff first-but there are masses of support staff, yet still increasing bureaucracy. Bristol has not got much choice in building as large parts of the Clifton campus are crumbling- and let's be frank selling that land for...

Indeed-Nottingham are in a dire situation too. Everywhere is cutting back even if redundancy is not on the cards

Basically yes. Two factors-the expansion under Blair (for UK students) for which the initial £3K fee was introduced to build infrastructure. The Cameron government then moved to the current fee system whilst vastly reducing government support but also lifting caps on student numbers and...

They are not in a good place financially though equally not on the edge of collapse like some (even in the Russell Group). Everywhere is cutting back.

Ultimately that was a decision of the Cameron government to move to the current fee and loan model. Prior to that fees mainly paid by taxation through HEFCE/HEFCW/SHEFC with the top up fee from the Blair Government. Now only clinical and some engineering degrees get a tax-payer top up. Working...

That's not a good example as a single university which has a specialism and link to local industry (Birmingham and jewellery) but there are many courses and many universities. However, the majority of overseas students are in STEMM, clinical degrees or professional leaning subjects like law and...
