    Reading play off final side

O dewr Tell me what Monk did before his was 25....o yes...nothing...tumbleweed 🤣🤣

    Reading play off final side

Nah its called an educated opinion, there was a reason why Monk was playing in the lower divisions intitally...because he wasn't good enough. He got to the Premier League due to being captain of a settled side who knew how to get the best of each other. Darling is a good young player who will...

    Reading play off final side

So Gower who scored 3 goals in 107 games as intitally a winger and then a centre midfielder and played most of his career at Southend as I remember gets in above all of our current midfielders 🙈

    Reading play off final side

At the same age of their careers Monk was playing reserve footy for southampton while Darling is in his 3rd season in the championship. Darling is captain material that there is no doubt and for has the ability to far exceed Monk. I'm not criticising Monk ability but he chronic lack of pace was...

    Reading play off final side

When they played first played together end of last season I'm pretty sure they kept 5 clean sheets in a row untill the last game of the season and again this season untill the last month they haven't done much wrong. Individual errors by cabango rather then being defensively frail

    Reading play off final side

If Nathan Wood is "good enough" to have minutes in the premier league then so is Darling. He has all the attributes, I struggle to see a clear weakness, the odd error granted but playing this new suicide football that many clubs play then it's almost a given on times.

    Reading play off final side

You do realise that Monk played afew seasons in a division below Darling and only when he reached 30ish did he play at a higher level. Monk also played in a side that was on the upward curve and were favourites for a couple of seasons in league 1 and then genuine playoff contenders in the...

    Key

That right side is definitely an issue at the moment and we dont seem to have found the righy formula yet. Regarding MPH, this may sounds alittle ridiculous but he reminds me of Tom huddlestone alittle with his lazy style but strong physique. Personally i see his future as an 8 with some legs...

    Key

Yeah agree with all the above, my only worry is time and place. I felt this role by key especially today did affect Cabango on the right side of defence with no out ball and very little cover. A fan infront of me was slagging darling off first half for being lazy and not pushing out further to...

    Key

Has anyone noticed that the manager has been trying key as this "inverted full back" ala stones at man city recently? Do we think it's working? No doubt key is at his best when driving forward but back to goal and in the congested midfield i feel he takes one touch too many and regularly loses...

Season 24/25 | The Official Match Thread | Swansea City 2 Portsmouth FC 2 | The EFL Championship

Not sure i mentioned the first half....granted allen doesnt have the legs in a 2 and pompey were full of energy first half where no one took any credit. But 2nd half he was different gravy untill replaced

Season 24/25 | The Official Match Thread | Swansea City 2 Portsmouth FC 2 | The EFL Championship

For the first 20 minutes in the 2nd half Allen was purring and ran the show so to say he shouldnt be playing is well off the mark. Also once MPH went into the centre i felt his physically was better suited and he some good touches. Cabango though was really shaky, wasnt comfortable all day.

Season 24/25 | The Official Match Thread | Swansea City 2 Portsmouth FC 2 | The EFL Championship

1st half everyone was poor, but jeez second half what more was Grimes supposed to do? He was covering every blade of grass defensively when our full backs were pushing up and twice made vital challenges. Add into that trying his best to keep the tempo going till the very end i mean come on 🤷‍♂️...

Like who? 🤔 Even if you look at the premier league over the years a consistent set piece taker is like gold dust and literally on top of my head i can only think of baines and ward prowse as home grown. Again i just think people see the grass is greener elsewhere when if you read opposition...

Need to upgrade your specs if thats your opinion But my point is people only remember the bad moments, so im stating he does regularly do alot of positive things which tend to get over looked in the hysteria. If Darling and co had been alittle more potent infront of goal from set pieces then we...

    Williams out

But unlike duff we at least had a settled plan of play. Our away form this season is really positive, yes we are not creating much but the onus is on the home team and they are barely scraping a shot or two themselves so we are always in with a chance. Yes at home its not clicked yet but with...

    Williams out

But during that time we were defensive solid which is always the first step to becoming a decent side. This forum is crazy for knee jerk reactions, i remember mentioning in the summer that darling and Cabango did well end of the last year and everyone was saying they were league 1...

He pinged in 2 unplayable free kicks in the first half that really needed finishing. 2nd half gave way to naughton and allen who both made a complete hash of things. 🤷‍♂️

    Luke Williams

Money does not grow on trees, we have been punching well above our weight for many years and now our realistic position is being found again. Do we really think any new investors will plough in millions to get us promoted? Time to stop living in the past.

    Luke Williams

Not sure any championship club has breeded as many premier league managers as us over the last 15 years, 3 above plus rodgers and martinez so clearly the club has done something right in the past 🤷‍♂️
