We want to play well and win of course, but performances absolutely do not matter more than place in the table. What would be the point of playing brilliantly and losing every game?

I've already posted this elsewhere, but we have the same points after 8 games as we did in our last Championship promotion season. Of course, Brendan's team went on to win 5 and draw 2 in the next 7 games. I imagine even our biggest pessimists would be happy with that.

Aye, it's a shame he didn't want to come back here. Wouldn't have him ahead of Vipotnik at this point, but would be a good option off the bench. Still, Idah just came off the bench and got an assist, so positive sign for him.

For putting the ball out for a corner when he wasn't sure who was behind him on the cross? Bit of an over-reaction there.

Mixed opinions on that penalty shout then, which suggests it's incomparable to the stonewall decision we should have had on Saturday.

Pfft, you'll regret that decision when they both score hat-tricks. Edit: I timed that nicely. 🤣

11k there tonight. Isn't it a 30k+ plus stadium? Atmosphere must be shit. In lighter news, Chris Wilder sent off at half-time for booting the football and hitting one of his own team's fans.

But unlike some of our 'fans', I'm confident you're delighted to be wrong. Some will be cursing our goal because it upsets their narrative.

    Alan Sheehan.

The ones who predicted a playoff place at least are likely the ones who are turning on Sheehan the quickest, as they don't like to look stupid.

Hopefully Ryder Cup Europe will pick up the tab, it's less than the PGA of America had to pay their golfers just to play in the tournament after all...

There's clearly potential there and he offers something none of our other central midfielders do in that he's willing to run with the ball at opposition players. On the flip side he's physically slight and even though he'll probably improve the more he plays, we probably won't ever see the best...

    Alan Sheehan.

The events of 90 minutes isn't going to decide anything on Sheehan. If we win 5-0, it doesn't prove myself and others backing him 'right' and vice versa if the result was reversed.

Exactly. People don't have an agenda against him though...

    Alan Sheehan.

That's fair. Being free-scoring but also open at the back (think Keegan's Newcastle) is certainly more fun to watch, but I would have thought success is more likely to come if you start with a foundation of a strong defence and have to put time into becoming better at scoring goals. Many of us...

    Ryder Cup

Bradley's already had a moan about it and said the envelope rule needs changing. As Donald pointed out, it was the Yanks who used it first and in a tournament they only won by 1 point.

    Vipotnik

I haven't seen it, but didn't VAR reverse a penalty for Arsenal because the Newcastle keeper got the slightest touch on the ball, even though Gyokeres could have then tapped it into an empty net if the keeper hadn't cleaned him out?
