S25/26 | The Official Match Thread | Blackburn Rovers 1 Swansea City 2 | Attendance: 11,013 (372 away) | Tues 30th Sept | The EFL Championship

Disagree, it’s been an excellent start to the season with a newly assembled side. After 8 games I would take where we are every day of the week.

But what about performances?

I want to be clear, I am not worried and know it needs time so I am certainly not one of the 'Sheehan out' brigade and do not like changing a manager mid season. But performances have a lot to improve on and usually it is the performances after 8 games that matter more than the place in the table.

I've already posted this elsewhere, but we have the same points after 8 games as we did in our last Championship promotion season.

Of course, Brendan's team went on to win 5 and draw 2 in the next 7 games. I imagine even our biggest pessimists would be happy with that.

Performances have been fine, I don’t buy into the hysteria when we don’t dominate games start to finish, this is the Championship and it’s rarely like that. We have performed well enough to be 7th and in the last 16 of the cup.

At times the football is the best we have seen in a long time, it’s just about consistency and doing it over longer and longer spells.

We want to play well and win of course, but performances absolutely do not matter more than place in the table. What would be the point of playing brilliantly and losing every game?

At least it is an option for us. I like Inoussa, but we could really do with him starting to contribute some goals or assists.
Inoussa got 2 assists in 2 from the Sheff Wed and Hull games. I think I saw somewhere that he is top for 2nd assists too, a bit of a pointless stat to be honest but it shows he’s always involved in goals even if not directly. He stood out for me in the Birmingham game and last Saturday too, his consistency will come. He does need to get his first goal though I agree, I have a feeling he is a floodgate kind of player, just needs to open them.

Not sure what view the ref had of the Cuntwell pen shout but viewed from behind him, it looks like his momentum made him skid as he turned just before Burgess made any contact. I'm not saying that is what happened, I'm saying that's what it looks like in some views.
I thought the same. Not sure if his legs got tangled? A tad.

Cracking finish from Franco, but Sheehan's midfield set up is not functioning very well. We have no creativity from the centre of the pitch, it just simple back passes back. We are heavily relying on attacking from the flanks.
Maybe we need Franco’s strength there and push Galbraith to the 10 role. At least he’d get more shots in

Correct. To be in this position when we have so much potential in a new squad is very encouraging. Wrexham recruitment team must be pig sick 😆

After 8 games performances matter more for me, within reason. You can not afford to lose every week but I think performances will tell you more after 8 games about where you will finish after 46 than where you are in the table does. For example Ipswich are below us, but they have drawn games this season when they created and missed lots of chances, so I would expect them to rise with time. Whereas we need to perform better to stay where we are.
