    Galbraith

Surprised at the number of people making comparisons to Grimes. He was far more aggressive and mobile than Grimes ever was. Definitely more hints of Johnny De Guzman about him for me.

    Cullen v Sheff Utd

Bench player now. Never been good enough as a striker, and we've just got better midfield options too.

It almost seems odd to say, but it's encouraging that Franco didn't stand out today. The quality around him has raised so much he doesn't have to be chasing and harrying everything because we've got people who can help him. Galbraith looks quality. Yalcouye a little dazzled a bit by the pace as...

Four into Three Won’t Go – Alan Sheehan’s Midfield Puzzle

We're going to be depending on the midfield to do a lot of running this season so it makes perfect sense to have the depth required to replace and rotate tired legs. No doubt there's similar thinking going into the amount of players we now have capable of filling in on the flanks. If, as I've...

The L1, L2, and NL Football Thread - The Lower Leagues

Watching them pop up on Twitter is interesting. After being all Gung Ho during the Summer there seems to be a creeping realisation that perhaps they don't have the best squad in the division after all. Should be even more fun in a month or two.

One Game is Not a Season: Why Patience is the Only Answer for Alan Sheehan and Swansea City

This. It's not so much that we've bought nothing but bad players (although some have been) it's that there's been no consistency of approach since Potter left. GP tried to take us back to the way we'd played on our way up the table with moderate success. Then he was replaced by Cooper, who had...

    Russell Martin

Once he gets the sack from Rangers he's maybe got one more Championship job left in him I reckon. Some club owner somewhere will be mad enough to think that the Southampton promotion was down to him and not the parachute payments. Once he screws that up he'll be battling Garry Monk for lower...

He was forced into it by results so bad that most other managers would have been sacked long before. There's no real evidence to suggest that had we given him even more money to piss away things would have been different. Indeed, his subsequent career at both Southampton and Rangers say otherwise.

I don't know why people keep banging on about style. For the most part we haven't had one since Potter left. Certainly most of the vehement Sheehan critics have the whiff of Martin apologia about them. It's one game, after an injury hit pre-season, when we're likely to have at least two...

    Russell Martin

Must admit, as much as I loathe Russy even I thought he couldn't possibly screw things up in a two horse race. For once I appear to have overestimated him.

As others have mentioned, Sheehan made good use of Fulton in our run of form last season so not a massive shock to see him start again as a defensive shield today, especially given Cabango's lack of pre-season minutes.

    Kyrell Wilson

It's probably a situation that's been made worse by downgrading Academy status. The quality of opposition the youth teams face has dropped. I mean, the MG cup is all well and good, but are they really testing themselves against the likes of Afan Lido?

    Owners update

I think we're basically allowed to bully other Academies and nick their players for peanuts too.

    Kyrell Wilson

Wilson is 21 in December. He should have at least one, preferably two full seasons out on loan under his belt by now. We keep these players trapped in the youth setup for far too long. It delays and I think damages their development. There's no substitute for proper, competitive football.

    Swansea documentary in the works

From a Jack to a King and back again? It's a little bit "bandwagon" for me. I think there are ways to use the links to generate income that don't necessarily require just copying the Wrexham model (loved the idea of a Swans/Snoop beer tie in) but it can't hurt much in the short term.

Someone needs to sit down with Snoop and teach him how to pronounce Swansea properly though.

We scored over 100 goals in all competitions that season. One of the most fun in my time watching the Swans.
