  1. Dr. Winston

    Russell Martin

He may convince the ownership of any new club, but anyone who does even hint that they might give him a job will face a fans protest. Hard to envisage any fan base in the UK not being dead set against having him as manager.

BBC journo taking no prisoners. Worth watching the video too. Distils Russy right down to his essence. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c93053rr56wo

    Russell Martin

    He'll want his payoff.
  4. Dr. Winston

    Stamenic

The worry is that he'll take the loss yesterday as a sign that it won't work, not that he picked the wrong players to do it.

I don't see that at all to be honest, especially not this season. Vipi's been all over the park. Came into midfield numerous times yesterday to try and link stuff up, perhaps a bit too much as when the ball broke he had to sprint like buggery to get into the penalty area. Idah seems more likely...

I still maintain that we'd be more fluid with an AM in the setup, just not Cullen. Could have swapped him for Inoussa and moved Eom, who was also having a good game, into the middle. Overall I think if you're going to rest Galbraith then you have to play Yalcouye as he's the only other one...

That's what is concerning me slightly with Sheehan at the moment. He was always likely to swap Idah for Vip yesterday around the hour mark. The fact that Vipi was having another good game didn't enter into the decision. Almost as if it was planned. Likewise when he hooked Eom. Midfield was...

    Stamenic

With Williams I never got the sense, even once, that he was getting the best out of what he had available to him. Sheehan certainly did that last season, even if he's struggling to repeat the trick so far this year. Sheehan also doesn't babble on in Martinesque during most interviews, so...
  9. Dr. Winston

    Russell Martin

I suspect deep down he probably does, but his entire persona, his entire managerial status is tied into it so admitting as much will fuck his reputation up even more. He can get sacked by Rangers and still plead the case that the players let him down, just as he did here, just as he did at...

A piano mover, not a piano player. Alongside more creative options he could do a decent ball winning job, just as Fulton does. We asked more than he's capable of providing today.

Wrexham v Birmingham (Friday night lights)

The fact that they've flown up the leagues quite quickly has probably acted against them to a degree. They've had to rebuild the team for the last two seasons at least. Maybe not for their year in L2 because a lot of that squad was already good enough for that level, but certainly last season...

For me the greatest manager of all time is Carlo Ancelotti and that's basically his whole thing.
  14. Dr. Winston

    Russell Martin

I'd be surprised if a club in League One went anywhere near him after this. Certainly you'd expect any team in the Championship to steer clear for fear of significant supporter revolt in the event of his appointment as manager. Six months at Rangers could have effectively ended his career as a...

    S25/26 | The Official Match Thread | Blackburn Rovers 1 Swansea City 2 | Attendance: 11,013 (372 away) | Tues 30th Sept | The EFL Championship

Based on what we've seen so far I'm not sure that there are any "better" sides in the division. Early days of course and the relegated teams might suddenly remember how much more expensive their squads are, but we certainly shouldn't fear anyone yet.

    S25/26 | The Official Match Thread | Blackburn Rovers 1 Swansea City 2 | Attendance: 11,013 (372 away) | Tues 30th Sept | The EFL Championship

Consistency is always the key in this division. Any team capable of putting together a couple of decent unbeaten runs will fancy themselves for a playoff spot, and in a season where the relegated sides haven't started well perhaps even more. I'm fairly convinced that we've got a squad good...

    Josh Key

If Fulton had been available for the physical battle that the Hull game became then maybe we'd have held on for the win. There are games and times when having him around will be handy. As much as I don't rate him, some will probably say the same for Cullen too. Key blows hot and cold. He can...

    Stemenic or Franco ?

Nah. Like it or not, Six into three won't go and we can't force it to a bit by making our standout midfielder so far play in another position. It's one deep lying midfielder (Stamenic, Franco or Yalcouye), one box to box (Galbraith, also maybe Franco and Yalcouye) and an AM. We don't have a...
