    Are the players giving everything?

That’s fair enough. All I know is, if I had been on a run of poor performances and just lost 4-1 at home in my last game and then my manager got sacked, leaving the coaching team in charge, my belief and confidence wouldn’t be at an all time high.

O'Dea - Reason For Our Downfall?

I’m personally of the opinion that the O’Dea stuff is over the top too. It’s almost like people didn’t want to blame Sheehan so O’Dea must’ve been the problem, when I think both of them weren’t good enough for us unfortunately. Both honest and professional guys though clearly and I bear them no...

    The ‘Vítor Matos’ Managerial Thread

Is it me or does it feel like he’s not played much in at least the last 5? I really don’t think we should be questioning Vipotnik when he’s scored 8 goals this season for us, when we’ve been the worst attacking side in the division at points. The guy can clearly score goals. Without him, we’d...

    Are the players giving everything?

It’s still more confidence for me. Our average age in the squad is around 24, lots of younger guys who are probably struggling with belief right now. Let’s not forget we were without Cabango and Tymon. Samuel’s Smith and Casey are relatively inexperienced although I like both.

    Are the players giving everything?

The reality is, football is a confidence game and these boys look shot of it at the moment. That’s what I saw today more than downing tools. You can see they care. After the first goal, Idah got a hammering from Burgess (I think) for not challenging for the ball. Effort is the one thing I’d...

    Relegation? Should We Be Worried?

No, if we’re in the same position come March, then yes

Yes, he didn’t offer much today Galbraith, but he’s had his fair share of decent performances for us. Franco is the same player as last year, a bit rough around the edges but definitely has quality. Stamenic, has shown enough for me to be worthy of a place. He’s the only player we have that is...

I think that’s because we do have some good midfielders at the club. Galbraith has stood out in most games for me this season, Franco can be very good as we’ve seen. I’ve seen enough in Stamenic to suggest he can be successful here (that pass against Norwich for Vipotnik being a particular...

This is what gives me hope to be honest. A lot of our problems this season seem to be tactical, the players look lost. They need clear communication to carry out the manager’s plan and it doesn’t look like they’ve had that. We need Matos to make the game simple for them.

Don’t think he’s a scramble appointment, plenty of options out there - Thorup, Still, Carrick. Wasn’t first choice but isn’t from out of nowhere, they clearly wanted him.

As long as there is more focus on in possession play then I think we’ll get better. We don’t seem to know what to do with the ball when we get it, it all looks off the cuff. That needs to get better.

Yes, we’ve been awful all season and managed to pick up 17 points from somewhere. You don’t do that if the players you have are completely hopeless. We know Vigs is good enough, we’ve seen full seasons from Cabango and Tymon, we know they are Championship quality. Galbraith is a good player...

He has the bones of a decent side there to work with. Would like to see Inoussa get a run of games, needs his confidence built up. Get Widell playing centrally and Vipotnik up top and I think we’ll be okay.

Not many of the sides we’ve played this season that are up there have been very good. What a season for us to have a mare in!

Awful today, but I’m confident we’ll pull away from trouble. We’ve somehow picked up 17 points, playing some pretty dire football, we’ve got a striker who knows where the net is (and didn’t start him today) and Cabango and Tymon will make a difference. Matos has got a half decent group to work...

Confirmed by Maritimo on Instagram. Matos is joining us, thankfully we look to have the manager search sorted. Their post doesn’t mention whether or not he will take their game on the weekend but I’d assume he’ll be in our dugout for the Derby game on Wednesday.

They’ll probably have more detailed information on Matos than we do. Still though, small sample size and a big big risk.

There will be a lot of candidates, it may feel like slim pickings but Hellberg probably would have been a decent shout going by the media reaction to his Boro move, and I think the club genuinely thought Matos was a good option. I don’t think this is bottom of the barrel for us.

    O Dea

To be fair though, news that Hellberg was close came last weekend. We’d have probably appointed him by now if it was still going to happen. That would have been Hellberg appointed within a week. We obviously didn’t see Boro coming in for him and that has delayed things for us. Ideally they would...

    O Dea

I think we should have had some communication earlier than now but we can’t blame the club. They were acting quickly and clearly thought they had Hellberg. 9 days since Sheehan went, if we have Matos in before Derby we won’t have been without a manager for too long.
