“So somehow he ended up staying here” Not only did he not leave, as was incorrectly reported in December 2021, we offered him a contract extension in March 2023, that’s how.

He’s been on a downward trajectory for a few seasons, but the coaching and match tactics have been the biggest influence here. He’s only 31 so there should be plenty left in the legs, so his fading last night likely relates more to how overall squad fitness has been maintained rather than...

Hmm, noticeable booing when he walked off. His comments about the punters paying his prize money won’t have won him any friends. I’m going to temporarily file him under twat.

Littler looks like he’s going to burst a head gasket. What’s he got wound up about? I didn’t think the crowd were that much against him.

No complaints tonight. Helped keep it tight and didn’t serve up his regular howler.

We’ve just seen the second relegated team there. Not that relegation should worry us, we’ve got a lot more than quite a few teams in the division. Urgently need a tweak in and around the penalty box, this is holding us back massively.

    Matos

We didn’t set up to surrender in the last twenty minutes, like we have seen so many times in the last two or three years. This is a noticeable change from what was the norm.

That’s a huge win, chuffed to bits for Matos and his team who will have unpicked a bit more of the puzzle after watching that. Solid without ever being spectacular and the cutting edge in final third needs some tweaking, but this will take time. We should absolutely be looking up, not down...

    S25/26 | The Official Match Thread | Oxford 0 Swansea 1 |Att: 11,413 | 29/12/25 | The EFL Championship | The Kassam Stadium

The problem here is that the text book of coaching now declares that he’s in the red zone and he gets pulled.

Master of his own downfall there. Or is it master of his own fall down?

Will take that. Not much class and finesse, the Tymon ball and the resulting header being the standout bits of a scrappy half. Oxford are very poor and going down, anything else than three points will be extremely disappointing.
