Reports from Denmark that we're interested in Tochi Chukwuani... looks like he's in the mould of Flynn Downes - we're desperate for that kind of player alongside Grimes in my opinion.

Worth noting that we're supposedly in a four way battle for him alongside Brondby, Midtjylland and... Cardiff

Seems exactly what we need. Only 20, played 70 senior games, 6ft 2.

Caution - there are apparently fears over a heart problem.

Some athleticism and hunger in midfield is exactly what we (and Grimes) need right now.
Jay has almost felt like he is going through motions rather than fighting for the badge in recent weeks.

Wears number 42.
We all know that is the meaning to life, the universe and everything.
Should suit us too.

Fulton is a passenger and has been for some time. Offers absolutely nothing, defensively, creativity wise or attacking . A complete and utter waste of a starting spot.

Agreed, with arguably a negative impact on our midfield and our ability to transition quickly from defence to attack (a key aspect of how LW wants to play) its hard to see how he justifies keeping Allen, Patino or Cooper out of the side.

Only reason Fulton plays is because the other options (aside from Patino) are shocking.

Allen & Cooper aren’t good enough unfortunately. Neither is Fulton, but he’s marginally better than those two.

Has it become a hot take to like Cooper? Maybe not in a midfield two, but I still rate him quite strongly, and am surprised by how little gametime he receives

I'll take anyone right now if it means we can break up the Grimes/Fulton disaster in midfield. Sign him up.

Most midfields in this league are either 6ft box to box athletes or very creative generals who control the game. Which do we have?

He's one of few players we have who want to take the ball on the half turn and move forward. We've got better footballers but too many of them spend all their time looking backwards. Martin didn't rate Cooper too highly either (despite talking him up a lot while out on loan), even had Congreve ahead of him 18 months ago, but someone who can make a 5 yard burst in the right direction made a big difference when he eventually started getting games. Should be coming on whenever Paterson fades.

Hopefully any new signing isn't too similar to Downes as that pairing with Grimes never worked. Both wanted to play the deepest, safest role in midfield, often dropping behind the back three competing to not have to take the forward responsibility.

This is precisely my surprise, he's a fairly similar player to Pato but with a little extra pace and lower end product. He's one of the few exciting midfielders we have, so unsure by his role currently
