• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler
    Owner, jackarmy.net

I see Dirty Leeds accounts have come in with a -60M loss.
Unfortunately they play by different rules when you come down from the Prem.
Parachute payments and a higher permitted loss over 3 seasons
Then again if they fail to go up this season they have some serious troubles next season with FFP

Clearly it could be worse, I agree, but losing £15-20m a season isn't exactly healthy either. Just because some other clubs are bigger basket cases, doesn't mean we're not one ourselves.

We need to be really careful, this is not a good trajectory to be on.
It's a tough one isn't it.

If it was my business I would be gung-ho, all eyes on the prize.

I would be recruiting like we used to back in the day, with a manager with a shared vision of playing a possession based winning formula, cutting our cloth to fit with PSR. Which I think is what the new boys are looking to do.

So, if we're not on that trajectory what do you think we should be doing differently ? You may be on to something.

edit oops

What should we do differently?

Stop signing crap players for quite substantial fees or wages - like Pedersen, Yates, and one or two others

Stop dishing out contracts to high earning players who are kaput, like Naughton and Allen

Stop trying to chase an ideal that has had its day i.e. the Roberto/Brendan possession based game. These days the best teams can win games a variety of ways, stop being wedded to just one (usually failing) tactic

Stop appointing coaches out of their depth at this level eg Williams and Duff

Just a few things we should be doing differently.

I want to give this much more than a 'like'.

This 👏
This is the nuts and bolts of it.
Everything that the old regime did wrong - and sadly a lot of it just comes down to common sense. But as they had no 'football people' running the club, common sense was out the window.
