Bradley Cooper, Ryan Manning and Flynn Downes have been phenomenal tonight. The squad is starting to look a lot stronger.

I like the look of Lati as RWB as well.

I think he"ll do a MG and improve as we go on,

I agree there were some good performances today and glimpses of the old Swansea style. I thought Latie at RWB was very good and Cooper played well. We must remember it will take time to reverse the damage caused by Blooper.
Can't wait for Tuesday, hopefully a good win and then thump Bristol on Friday night.

Wasn’t much different to last season really. Terrible game of football. Some seem to be pretending it’s a new dawn and we’ll sweep all before us with sparkling football. Didn’t see any evidence of that last night. It was no more entertaining than a Cooper team. Still early days for Martin though and a work obviously in progress. We’ll see.

Can't disagree with that except for perhaps the possession stats. How many times have we had 65% in the last couple of years? Last season we'd have been admiring our "shape" and the fact that we were "good without the ball" i.e. very Monk-esque. Hopefully it's something to build on but we are way short up front.

We’re not going to score many goals this season.
Showed some promising stuff last night but no real threat.
Mid table finish.
Not sure where all this positivity about us rediscovering our philosophy is coming from. Got to give it a try though I suppose.
I’m not all doom and gloom, I enjoyed our possession last night, but we could still be playing football and not score.
Don’t we have 27 American investors in the group that own us??
27?? They must have cajillions bazillions of dollars between them all but yet we can’t fund an animal like Pukki, Mitrovic, Toney etc??
That’s why we won’t go anywhere this season or the season after.
This league you need an out and out striker.

Latibeaudiere was excellent going forward but almost totally ignored the 'back' part of the role. The one time he stepped back was to give away a foul on the edge of the box.

We have 61% US consortium shareholder.
But we also have 39% local shareholders (fan consortium owning 21%) who don't put a 1d into the club.

On another note did anyone else struggle in the first half to work out our formation?

Whenever Sheff Utd were counter attacking Bidwell still seemed mostly at left wing and he was ahead of Paterson for the majority of the first half on left wing. Seemed exposed when we were defending. I know we were using it as a tactic to win the ball from goal kicks but it's the most changeable I've seen us since Potter.

Just as long as we don't have Grimes at left back!

My point remains

I thought it was a pretty decent showing, just needed to be a bit more cutting in the final third. I don't think Cullen or Dhanda are quite up to the job of creating much of anything.
Adding a new player in there and Roberts playing where Latibaudiere was and we would be much stronger.

On another note, some of the negativity in the stands and on here is ridiculous. Booing backwards passes, moaning every time Benda touched the ball and constantly shouting to 'put your foot through it'. Do everyone a favour and keep you negativity to yourselves.

Going on last nights game alone you are 100% spot on.
I have absolutely no idea what people are watching because they aren’t watching the same as me.
Last night was nothing but a boring 0-0 draw and anyone saying any different is clearly deluded.

And strangely this never gets mentioned,… funny that. 39% shareholder who doesn’t invest a penny

Darran you know as well as I do that it takes more time to turn players into footballers than it does to turn them into hoof merchants. Especially the confidence to play one touch football into space rather than to a player having the trust that someone is moving into that space to receive the ball.

While we did lack something of a cutting edge (and I will be the first to admit that) we looked a lot more assured defensively after a very nervy showing at Blackburn. Lati as a right wing back did fine positionally in my opinion but he definitely lacks the attacking spark that you need from a wing back like we are used to getting from Roberts.

Downes for his debut for me fell very much into the "neat and tidy" category but at least for his first game wasn't involved all that much in an attacking sense. Could just be because its his first game and he would prefer to have a solid showing but right now our shape did feel imbalanced with two sitting midfielders and our attacking midfielder in Paterson on the left wing for most of the game yesterday.

I will be interested to see where Fulton fits into RM's plans, I suspect that he will be the more offensive version of Downes for us and will help to serve as the link between Grimes and Paterson.

Cullen serving mostly in a right wing position and dropping deep a lot didn't really give him much chance to attack and it was an odd position for him to play in, especially since it left Lowe isolated on a lot of occasions with Paterson operating almost entirely on the left wing. Will see what new signings and returning players do to help balance the team shape and the squad overall.

I absolutely agree with you. That’s not what I’m saying. People are already making out we are playing some special brand of football and we aren’t.
Of course it’s going to take time but people are raving over last night and it was nothing but a boring 0-0.

I agree, there is no point in having possession if you do nothing with it.hopefully that will come, Patterson on left side did not work, we need an attacking central midfielder, we could have played all 4 forwards and we wouldn’t have scored, we need to find that link in last 3rd. It is positive steps
