I do think there’s a big difference in play since Sheehan took over permanent vs how it was when he was in temporary charge I think it was a lot more exciting and adventurous when he was in temporary charge, but nonetheless he’s still done and is doing a decent enough job, but I don’t think the owners will want to settle for mid table after spending 20M.
I’m of the opinion now that O’Brien is one of the reasons for that difference. When we try and press now we are nowhere near as effective although having Franco today did help. I haven’t checked but I’d be willing to bet we won the ball in the final third a lot more last season than we have so far this one. I don’t think the midfield we have now can play the pressing game to that same standard personally. I’d rather us focus more on in possession stuff more with the players available.

Only Vipotnik is capable from range really. Galbraith, but he was rested for most of it. I suppose the argument is we are more effective closer range so better to try and work the ball into the box than strike from range, as Cabango showed in the 97th min.
We hardly shoot from distance to know this.
Aside from Galbraith and Vipotnik, who else have we seen on a regular enough occurrence see have a shot from distance?
Another instance, today there was a chance for Franco to put a cross in from a very advanced right hand position, he didn't cross and 10 seconds later the ball was back with Viguroux.

Surely you know that the manager will know exactly who can and can’t shoot from range after seeing them daily?

Franco, Ronald and Inoussa aren’t long range shooters, neither is Cullen.

Cullen has it in him as we have seen with the free kick at home v Sunderland last season.
Most teams only have 1 or 2 players who are known to have a good long range shot in them.

Some of the biggest bollox over reaction I have read on here for a long time.

Last time we lost a home league match was on 15th March, against Burnley- now in the Premier league.

3 weeks ago we knocked Forest ( Premier league ) out of the cup , winning 3-2.

On the overreaction swingometer - this is 8.5 out of 10. Can someone set one up ( a swingometer) and perhaps a prize end of season for most overreaction thread ? Cheers

Luke Williams-esque football creeping in, we did it against hull, again against Leicester, need to sort this out before it comes back.
is it Luke Wiliams esque or in reality Sheehan football lets not forget he was here last season too

Really? I don’t think that his caretaker days brought about a different approach to the game. Whilst the results were good, it was hardly fast free flowing football (a phrase someone once coined on here).
It certainly wasn't for a lot of the games, Preston , Watford (away) Derby and Burnley (home ) were turgid affairs, can only think of Plymouth and Oxford (home) where we attacked with real intent and also Leeds (away) was a fine performance. 1 win in 5 home games is not a good stat to start the season with.

I do not think our midfield is the real issue, but I agree that we have not quite replaced O'Brien. It looks like Wrexham are almost playing him as a number 10 this season. Would have loved to see him with Stamenic and Galbraith.

Both had 7 shots on target and we amassed more xG. Considering their squad is worth treble ours, I thought we did extremely well.

Leicester are a top side who I expect to be in the Premier League next season.
