Our League form

I couldn't disagree more.

Apart from Leicester, the only games we have lost have been by a single goal.

We're usually well in the games, we stay in games, we are competitive, we defend well for the most part.

That is not underperforming.

We're simply a very solid and professional side, but unfortunately one that lacks any stardust.
What’s the point in being in games that you aren’t going to score in though?

That is one way of looking at it.

The other way of looking at it is what might happen if we did commit players forward en masse. I suspect we'd resemble the shambles we were under Williams and Martin.

But you can cut it both ways, I accept that.
Why is the alternative commiting forward en masse?

We literally do not get more than two shots on target a game. I think we could probably do a bit better than that without commiting forward en masse

Agree with this, it’s not as simple as if we don’t play how we are now, we’ll play Russell Martin football. We can be doing a lot better than we are and not concede shedloads of goals.

It’s looking like lower mid table based on the 13 games we’ve played so far and I’d rather be in 16th playing Martin ball than 16th playing the way we currently are. I know not everyone will agree but I was never bored watching us under RM, just frustrated at times.

We just need to understand that Widell should start most games from here on in (I get why he didn't start today after the work he put in on Wed). We simply cannot go without a creative option in midfield. I'd also be playing Inoussa ahead of Ronald.

I think we will improve.. players bedding in, some will fall out of favour and the Jan window will add some extra requirements where needed.

10th will be our destiny this season

My point is, we aren't exactly parking the bus as it stands are we. If we start trying to be more open and attacking than we are, the risk is you turn into a Postecoglou team or a Kevin Keegan team.

Perhaps some people prefer us drawing 3-3 or losing 4-2 than drawing 1-1 or losing 1-0, I don't know. But I'm alright with it as it is right now personally. I don't think you can get radically different outcomes with this group of players. They really aren't as good as some people think they are.

There are still people who will romanticise the kind of football that we played under Martin and Williams. Forget the fact that we were terminally dull to watch under both. Forget the fact that defensively we were leakier than the Titanic. They upheld "The Swansea Way", even if our passing stats under Sheehan are broadly the same.

I do disagree with you that this is as good as it gets though. We saw on Wed what these players are capable of. We just haven't seen that often enough in the league. Front foot football. Hard working, high tempo, forward as a first resort.

To me it's crackers that the first time we've tried to impose ourselves on an opposing team this season it was against one of the best teams in the country and we didn't look hapless in the process.

F**k me. "Never bored watching us under Russell Martin" is one of the most amazing comments I've ever seen on this board .

Each to their own I know, but in watching the Swans for some 50+ years, I was never so bored as under Russell Martin (a few games only excepted). Oh.. and frustrated and angry ..turning into apathy and sleepnesness.

Anyone want to add some adjectives ?
