I guess that’s not the full picture though. My perception at least is that we were >70% prior to Manning getting sent off.

67% at half time

At one point it was 89% for a period first half. We were well on top.

1 cross against their 46 too! Must have been 50+ by the end.

Leicester won the premier league doing that. Defend them properly when they come in.

The 89% possession was "over last 10 minutes" - still hugely impressive and showed that Blackburn struggled with the team shape after we had ironed out the kinks on the pitch. Not sure we can rely on this formation all the time especially for tough away games but its definitely one that will make teams have to stop and think about how they are going to line up against us.

Put it this way, RM now has first hand evidence that a mixed passing game can be effective and do damage. We were far from predictable this evening.

Defenders playing like defenders when were down to 10 men certainly helped.

A fine mix of tactical and positional awareness. A true team effort.

I will admit I did not see a 3-5-2 formation coming and it leaves plenty of questions to be answered about how we set up our defence in the future, however I called for a formation that makes the most of what to be honest is a pretty solid attacking lineup that we have and today RM delivered on that.

I still think we would be better with a 4-5-1 but it looks like he wants to try to accommodate Obafemi and Piroe together. Will take time for them to develop a partnership I think but there is potential there between Obafemi's raw pace and strength and Piroe's movement.
