From the summer onwards goalkeepers will only be allowed to hold the ball for a maximum of 8 seconds. If held for more time a corner will be awarded.
That’s going to work well !

I'm glad they're doing something about it because it's one of my two bugbears of the modern game, i.e. two rules which are increasingly ignored. The other one is keeping BOTH feet on or behind the line at the moment you release the ball over your head at a throw in. Half the players doing a longer throw these days almost kick themselves up the arse with the heel of their rear foot in order to get more distance. Nine times out of ten the officials ignore it.

If they bring in a rule where by if you don't beat the first man when taking a corner it's re taken, our games will last over 4 hours each.

Isn't there a 6 second rule already in place?
Yep.

Give them extra couple of seconds for a rule I'm yet to see actually enforced.

The amount of keepers who are out of their area when kicking from their hands is another one that refs turn a blind eye to.

The six second rule was quite laxly enforced.
Apparently the new rule will be quite strictly enforced.

If there's a rule change to be had then I would much rather it be the "tactical injury treatment" for goalkeepers. Since they are exempt from the 30 second rule of being forced off the field many take advantage of it to go down even under no challenge or no save being made so that managers can call over the players and get out some instructions during the 2-3 mins that this mystery injury takes.

Such circumstances should force an outfield player to leave the pitch for 30 seconds nominated by the opposing captain. That will stop this farce right away

If it stops them laying on the ground all the time and looking around after just catching or picking up the ball I’m all for it. Should be 4 seconds and for taking goal kicks when they have possession the ball. There’s loads of annoying shit like this that could be improved.

What about the rule where referees were going to add 10 + minutes of added time at the end of most matches , that worked well hasn't it.

I remember them doing it for a while. The novelty soon wore off.

They should also do something about goalkeepers collapsing on the floor after catching the ball in the air for no reason.

What goalkeepers will do instead of standing holding the ball only having 8 seconds they’ll crawl around the box then stand up when they are ready to get rid of the ball

The law that needs changing is where a player is fouled, injured and the physio comes onto the pitch, a free kick is awarded to his or her team yet the player has to go off and wait on the touchline which means there's 10 v 11 for that free kick! Bonkers.

This is to stop the time wasting though. teams who are 1-0 up will go down and call the physios on for everything, like they used to.
Problem is now, the physios just stand at the touchline for ages and the players milks it for 20 seconds and then gingerly gets up saying he doesn't need the physios. I think if the player doesn't need the physios on, the game should continue and if the opposing team refuse to continue, should be yellow cards for timewasting.
