9 Games left

Trouble is Watford are already 6 points ahead of us 5 wins and a couple of draws would only give us a gap of 11points. Hence 4 wins would be enough for them our game against them may still have something on it.

This stage last season we were 7 points behind Forest and didn't have a game in hand.

Looking at our run in I can't see us winning more than 5 of our 9. On that basis Watford despite a tough set of fixtures Would only need 4 wins and perhaps a couple of draws to put us out of contention. Our current form would suggest less wins but hey let's keep everthing crossed.

We have a run of 5 games in April that goes
Preston H
Millwall A
Sheff Wed A (our game in hand)
Wycome H
QPR H.

Every one of those games is winnable,, its likely we'll drop some points along the way, but its also not impossible we could win all 5 on the bounce.

Watford's 4 games over the same period are:
Boro A
Reading H
Luton A (local derby)
Norwich A

Not inconceivable that they dont win a single game.

If you offered me the chance to go into our final game 2 points behind Watford, I'd take it now.

NB: other teams are in contention as well.

Having bottled automatic promotion should Cooper be focussing on the play offs now by giving players in his strongest line up some rest time and mental preparation for a three game knock out?

...no. That's beyond a ridiculous question.

Agreed. It's as ridiculous as suggesting we've 'bottled' automatic promotion but people who have an obvious agenda don't tend to care how ridiculous they look.

We've not bottled automatic promotion it's just that on current form we simply aren't good enough for automatic promotion.. That's a fact. If we get better then we could be good enough but will we improve to the standard required that's the question.

If they do, they will deserve promotion. I bet they dont win all their matches though.

“Barnsley are unexpected challengers, and have been helped by Valérien Ismaël’s willingness to take full advantage of this season’s five permitted substitutions. He says the rule “gives you the possibility to have more impact on the game and to decide what is going on”, and no team in the Football League have made more than their 152 substitutions (equally notably, only Accrington Stanley and Lincoln have used fewer than Swansea’s 88)”

Yeah we haven’t got much margin for error left now, they’ve got tougher games coming up but if we don’t win tonight I think the gap might be too big for us to close.

Third lowest number of substitutions in the whole of the league. Crikey.

Christ, Barnsley chase everything, and if they can’t catch it they kick it.

If we make the play offs I’d rather these two than Muff or Real Buzz Buzz. Come on Reading.
