With our gaffer being an ex defender I’m really surprised at how poor our defence has been recently. From the Bournemouth match onwards we’ve really struggled. Of particular concern is on the flanks. I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again, we need to change the system with the emphasis on having a skid back four.

The defense is playing under instruction, if they don't obey they are dropped. Now, let's talk about the daft buggar who is giving the instructions. It's easy to see the defenders don't enjoy playing this way. Would any defenders?

How is Bennett on 15-20k a week, honest, his legs have gone and a walking red card, a yellow is a certainty from him

We signed him after he had played 10-15 games under Rodgers at Leicester where he'd done ok. But his legs have absolutely gone and we can just about get away with it in a three, but for goodness sake let's not put him on the right of a three as I'm fed up of seeing him skinned

Defensive shape was missing yesterday, multiple occasions where members of the back four were completely out of position and the third goal highlights this perfectly. However, saying that this is not an issue limited to just the Southampton game and we've lost countless goals this season in the same way. This is RM's issue to fix, he is accountable.

Agree with the positioning for the 2nd and 3rd goals, but that is what you get when you put a centre midfielder to play at centre half

Who happened to be our best player, if you want to blame someone then start with a centre half who was blowing outa his àss after 60 minutes 👍

If you're not winning matches and you haven't got and cannot get the right players to play the system you prefer, you have to find another way or at the very least tweak the one you're using so you have players playing in positions where they are comfortable and understand the role, especially defenders who have been playing that role for a decade, otherwise you are going to get mistakes that any half decent team will punish even if they haven't had the ball for half an hour.
