• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

Any Facebook post about Swansea City Centre will be full of replies from people saying parking is too expensive. No amount of people pointing out it's £1 per hour and capped at £5 in multiple car parks stops these people/bots.
Yeah it’s just people convincing each other that the world is against them.

That is quite possibly the case. I do however, believe it will affect businesses and impact on folk who genuinely cant afford such charges. You have to look at the bigger picture, and not just assume that its keyboard warriors having a rant, it really isnt that simple, imho.
It won’t, certainly not at peak times / sunny days. People are not going to sit in the house rather then pay a couple of quid to park. Because if they go to any other tourist type place, they are going to have to pay.

Are the car parks free in Mumbles? Port Eynon, Rhosilli? I’ll be surprised if the answer is yes.

Hell no. We took the dog for a run on the beach down Oxwich a few weeks back and had a munch at the Oxwich Bay Hotel. Parked in the car park by the beach for a fiver.

I honestly can’t think of a seaside car park where you don’t have to pay. Not saying there aren’t any, but I can’t recall one.

Are you speaking as someone who can afford a couple of quid here and there. I'm not being funny here, but, there are folk for whom it will make a massive difference. And I guess you know the answer to your second question. I'm really not trying to be contentious here or condescending but it's tough enough out there without this type of thing going on.
Anyhow, I guess we'll agree to disagreed.👍

If it was something I enjoyed doing, I would alter my spending to allow me to be able to continue. Nobody stands up for the less well off than I do, but kicking up a fuss over this is silly. Nobody likes change, especially if it’s something we’ve previously done for free, but we are where we are. That parking money is desperately needed.

No, I didn’t know the answer to the second bit, I haven’t been to any of those places for donkeys years.

Honestly, it's not that I cant counter your post, I literally cant be bothered. It's been a long week. Enjoy your evening.👍
And yes Most if not all car parks in Mumbles and Gower are PAD have been for years.

You brought the post up, hence my replies to you. Never mind aye 🤣

If you can afford a car and to fill it with petrol you can probably afford a few quid to park it.

There are still loads of free places to park in the city centre if you know where to look, it's just most of them are a little bit more out of the way, and a lot of people just can't be arsed to add an extra 5-10 mins walk onto whatever it is they're doing.

To be honest I'm not surprised that The Council have listened to the vox populi.
It was a pretty unpalatable decision by NPT, and one which shouldnt have been made in the first place. What a waste of valuable officer time and money which could have been put to better use.

It's the right decision in my opinion it doesn't impact me either way to be honest, but some people enjoy a stroll along that prom and if it brightens up their day good on them, costs on all things have gone ridiculous.

Indeed. There's an old saying.
The best things in life are often free. And somethings should be.👍
