• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

You're right, I'm a bit disappointed he has not in to double figures for goals, after all he's played all of 120 odd minutes.

Dispel your thoughts he's lazy and incapable of heading the ball, FFS.....

We've always had an element of the support that would judge a player after a woefully short amount of game time and then would dig their heels in forever more, but it's much worse than it used to be. Social media encourages hot takes to get heard among the many talking heads.

It's bizarre.

Just look at Vip, he was utter garbage apparently.

But to be fair, he was. No movement, no pace, no awareness, no abiliiy to hold the ball. When managers fancy Cullen more, you are properly in the doghouse.

Today's Vip is not last year's Vip. Something has motivated him and put a rocket up his arse. Long may it continue.

It's clearly not £6M. It could possibly become as much as £6M if he scores the goals to propel us into the Premier league and then it would be a bargain.

I'd say its pretty clear it is around that figure. Lots of talk though that its spread across the length of his 5 year contract. Transfermrket says its actually 6.9mill. Celtic only signed last summer for around 10mill (madness) so if they're selling them a year later to us without signing a replacement on deadline day - this says to me we're paying a lot for him, otherwise celtic would have just kept him.

I don't know what it is amongst our fanbase where we don't expect much from debuting players. Thousands of players over years have had great debuts, thousands have scored on their debuts, thousands have had great debuts, thousands have had good debuts, thousands have had quiet debuts but have shown flashes of brilliance or class.

We've paid a load for this player who's shown absolutely zero nous so far.

But I hope he proves me wrong - he has to or this could be a very damaging signing for the club.

That particular choice says more about the manager TBH. As we've seen in recent games, Sheehan's decision making isn't perfect.
I do think if he'd played more and had the manager's confidence, we might have seen this a lot earlier, but he may also have just grown as a player, settled down and knuckled down. It definitely happens.

I'm certainly in your camp with thought on this particular matter.

I make no apology for my initial view but hopefully will be making an apology if I'm proven wrong.
I find it strange though that some people who were on Vipotniks back are now using him as the example in comparison to Idah 🫣😁

What I don't really get, is that you are the one that has been grating on ad nauseum .new striker, new striker', 'striker', 'striker', 'striker' forever, more than anyone else on the planet, right up to deadline day.. Now we've bought one, you've made your mind up he's crap before he's played a single whole game after a couple of weeks at a new club.

I'm not saying he'll be good or bad, and I don't know if he'd have been top of my shopping list (I guess Haaland and Mbappe turned us down), but to paint yourself into a corner and 'hope you're wrong' at this stage seems a bit bizarre.

Thing is there was always a player in in there.

People were very quick to write him off just like they are with Idah. A little patience is needed.

120 odd minutes, give your head a wobble.

I said he thought he wasn't at Norwich too. I'm basing this over his career to date.

Credit to his potential improvement at Celtic but as i say we should have tried a loan first.

Watched Norwich week in week out did you?

Give the lad at least six months in a Swans shirt before writing him off.

Well contrast to Bobby Wales. Was playing in a worse team in Scotland and is much younger and cost a fraction. That's the type of player I could understand being overawed and anonymous in their early games. But hes done better.
