Okay shall we make a deal. The ones who are backing Sheehan. When it hits Christmas and things potentially get sticky can you please not be calling his head. If youre backing him. Back him.
If he gets the job and we hit a stick patch come Christmas, I'm sure the majority of the fans will get behind the team when they see the players and manager are trying their best.

Cadleigh and Monmouth have made very fair arguments btw. I don’t agree with that argument as it suggests a lack of confidence and really you want to impart confidence.

I’d love to be proven wrong on this. But I just think there’s a collective sigh of relief and that is dangerous to good decision making.

The risk element is of course true but there’s different levels of risk dependent on candidate.

No disrespect but ….. meh.

Plenty of experience for a young man but not at a particularly high standard.
Sheehan will have 20 games as manager in two stints by the end of the season. Hellberg will have 3 seasons in the Swedish top flight alone. He has a very similar profile to Potter.

This is a massive red flag for me. The majority of his teams passes were in between the 18 years box an the centre circle.

For a start that pass map was from Varnamo's first season ever in the top flight when they finished 10th out of 16. Second season they finished 5th. Last season Hammarby were runners up, their best position for 20 odd years.

If you read that article there are lots of plus points. Ticks all the boxes apart from EFL experience.

Is there a similar picture that can demonstrate passes in his 2nd season in the top flight with Varnamo and one with Hammarby?

Btw if we do end up with someone else I really hope Sheehan goes on to get a management job elsewhere and does well. Great bloke.

Not bothered what season it is. I'm more concerned by all the sideways and backward.s.

You have to take into context that they were minnows going into the top flight and probably highly fancied to get relegated in that season.
What's the picture like in his previous 2 seasons?

From that article "
When teams are described as direct, the perception is normally that the side is playing Route 1 or playing off of a traditional target man, scrounging for second balls.

It’s disorderly, chaotic and aesthetically unpleasing.

Värnamo’s style of play is very vertical, but far from the traditional meaning of direct.

Rather than a hit-and-hope approach, Värnamo is a side that uses numeric overloads to ruthlessly break lines and run at the opponent.

They’re not afraid to play over the opposition with thoughtful passes into streaking wingers, but their most modus operandi is to play into high targets between the lines while keeping the ball on the ground."

Sounds good to me.

I couldn’t call which way this will go.

I suspect Sheehan will not get the job as if he were going to, I don’t see why it has not been announced this week. I don’t think there’s anything more he could have done in the last few games - I was annoyed at his set up for Derby, but against Leeds, Plymouth and Sunderland we were very good.
The business with Modric this week makes me think the owners really want to make a splash and bringing someone in would help that. It will be 50:50 though in many ways. We could easily appoint someone who just doesn't work for us.

Difficult call.

I will say though that, to my surprise, I will completely understand if Sheehan does get it.

Whatever happens, he has been a class act. Seems like a very nice man.

If Sheehan goes unbeaten in the last four games which could give us 8th place we would be slightly foolish not to consider him for next season.

Makes no difference whatsoever, what league they are in.

If sideways and backwards is his style of play, that's his style of play.
