Personally I think the ceiling for this group is not much higher than it is now. Maybe 9th or 10th, with a very fair wind and a bit of confidence. But this is not a play off threatening squad, in my view. For a start, we haven't had a 20-goal striker since Piroe.

On the whole though I take your point. The problem I have - and clearly you aren't in this camp - is that there are still some in our fanbase who indulge in the cakeism of expecting the club to uphold the purity of 'Swanselona' against a backdrop of losing £20m a year. It ain't gonna happen.

The sooner some accept that Sheehan-type coaches (pragmatists) is where we are at right now and what we need, the
In losing Piroe, Pato, Ntcham and Manning, we lost a huge amount of goals and assists which haven’t been replaced.
We couldn’t get into the play offs with them so, from a numbers perspective, 9th or 10th would mean a water tight defence and a lot of one-nil’s.

If I were to make a choice here and now then it's Alan Sheehan's job going forward......he has won me over.

Any long term appointment has risks but Hellberg brings a financial risk, finances I would rather seen put towards the first team. I also get the feeling that it's a split with his potential appointment and feel the fans more united in the Sheehan appointment and a fan base pulling in the right direction is massive in my opinion.
What's coming out it's sounds like the announcement is coming next week. Win today and get a draw or win on Monday and I bet everything that he will be out next manager. Fans can be fickle, me included, and a few wins can overwhelm decisions and all. But he has shown is a tactically mind, crazy right 😂😂. And have evolved our play. It might not be pretty every match, but he is not single minded. It's not one way or no way. For me, irrelevant of what happens this time next year, why rip up what he has built in short time. For the first time in a long time it appears everyone is on same page.

Ntcham for me was huge Loss. Divisive, as he looked like he was strolling but he was a number 10 we missed for so long. Manning, couldn't really defend but assists was good and Piro, could go missing but would score out of know where. I'm not one for looking back, but alot of players are in their first season with us. Yes Piro was, but some take time. Franco, Eom, VP, I am more than confident are gonna be an aasestt on and off.

I wouldn't really call him a #10 either. For me he was a charging central midfielder. Had a goal in him but his main job should have been carrying the ball through midfield as quickly as possible. Naturally Russy stuck him out wide.

We saw what he was capable of during that late run in 2023 when he finally got used properly. What a waste his time here mostly was.

I recall him making a great tackle on the edge of our box, spinning around and then bursting on a 50yrd run up field…… then losing his mind when he realised nobody had gone with him and he was on his own with 4/5 defenders.

Our place based on our geographic position and our income is where we are, I think being a top 10 Championship club with the odd dalliance in the top 6 is about where we are.

The premier league clubs are getting richer and richer and those promoted sides are coming back down into the Championship are bringing a vast amount of wealth with them and even that isn't enough to keep them in the prem, most of the teams that have gone up in the last couple 3yrs have come back down which is more or less proving that they haven't the wherewithal to stay there, but it's also having an affect on clubs like Swansea who find it difficult to compete financially with those clubs who do come back down especially the yo yo clubs.

We are where we are and probably where we deserve to be for the reasons above.

When a half decent manager like Sheehan shows what our richly assembled talented squad can deliver when unleashed from self indulgent MartinWillyWang - it really makes you wonder what a proper decent manager can achieve, esp with the backing of our new Owners and best-in-class recruitment apparatus.

Exciting times……

Well the way Sheehan was going around hugging his players today, had a look about it that suggested a change could be happening or is on the way.

Very disappointing if that is the case.

End of the debate today.
I’d go as far as to say, every single player is ‘in form’.
Sheehan, O’Brien, Darling, golf, Madrid… in that order

I’d be gutted if he doesn’t get given the job now, could bite us, but either way huge respect to him, can see him going far.

Frankly I don't think he could do any more to pass this audition for the job

In 10 games he has won 6 and drawn 2 picking up 20 points out of 30 on offer
Only four teams have scored against us, two of those being the top two in the Championship table
Not saying that form could be maintained over a whole season on our budget but two points per game would put us level with Sheffield United who are 3rd place with (as it stands) 86 points from 43 games.

In the past four seasons that would have been enough to clinch automatic promotion in three of them

The fans are onside
The performances are always full of graft even if not always with the quality fans demand
The players love him and are all bought into his play style
The results also back him up

What more could he do?

Only thing I can see stopping him getting the job.....the owners have earmarked a guy prior to Sheehan being made caretaker and are sticking to the plan.

The club and that includes Sheehan have seen a massive shift in the feel good factor and surely any tinkering with it is only an unnecessary that could derail the feeling.

Just give it to Sheehan and work hard on the recruitment in the summer 👍
