Alan Sheehan on Blackburn Rovers | Reaction

Probably a bit early to call, but would you want Grimes back after all this? You know, hypothetically. Of course it would never happen. "the Swansea way" needs to evolve somewhat since we've stagnated.
Oh no way. It was weird. I was watching today and Grimes came to mind. I thought if Grimes was playing today, he proberly would pass a few nice balls, but spend most of his time slowing play down and being the player who always receives it at the back. I have stated that I wont speak about Grimes much more, but seem to drivel on about him the most. As stated Grimes is no devil. He contributed to the team and was good. But I refuse to except that this team can evolve if he was with us. Every manager lorded after him. He was untouchable. We need to be a team. Grimes was the team. And that's the issue if he played well then most of the time the team did. Now that is usually a good sign. Issue was, when he didn't the team didn't. We need to be a team that is not reliant on 1 player. If Cullen for example doesn't score or perform then another picks up. Using him as example only by way. Thought he played well today. Not his best. But rest of team didn't allow 1 player to dictate the whole team.

Different gravy Jaxsy.
Joey is now ever more integral, the very last remaining glue to our unique playing heritage, pedigree and class
He's up against a clueless oaf in Coleman mind. As good as player Joey is/has been, he is as no more qualified as me or you to coach (licensing wise) in the professional game.
Lets see how this pans out aye...

Grimes fucked off, if he fucked off because of one man(Williams) then I'm glad he fucked off.
It was clearly more than just one man that he left.

He left us in the lurch, for better or worse, I doubt he thought twice about us and nor should we about him.

The thing about Grimes is that for the past five or six seasons he has become the security blanket for the players and for the managers alike. The biggest thing about a security blanket is that while it might help to stop someone dependent on it from falling their worst state, a reliance upon it will NEVER see them getting into their best condition.

Honestly Grimes was as much a victim of himself becoming the security blanket as anyone else at the club was, especially when he felt he needed to be responsible for covering more and more of what was clearly a madman's tactical acumen (or lack thereof) to the extent that he had no choice but to become "Statty Grimes" with the forward thinking and clever ball playing version we saw under Potter being gradually eroded away first by Cooper's obsession with shape above all else and then Martin and Williams with their completely illogical strategies and formations.

Not defending him, the way he handed in a transfer request with less than a week left to the window was poor conduct and any goodwill I had towards him has gone alongside him. Just playing the devil's advocate for why a player who used to do what O'Brien did today had regressed into what he became before he left us.

Stat assisted today from a corner. He managed to whang one over the first defender,
To be fair that ball he put in had as much pace as an L reg Astra and it only took a usual howler from Woodman for it to be a goal.
