Looking at the quality of some of the players on display for Brentford last night (and in recent seasons) it's encouraging to note that our current head of recruitment was heavily involved in the signing or targeting of most of them as scout or director of recruitment for Brentford. They've sold something like £120m worth of players in recent years and the production line keeps running.

If he can apply the same processes here he'll do us right.

Indeed, but there was nothing but support from the owner Matthew Benham. Plus Benham is a supporter so he has a personal investment (as well as a significant financial one).

I suppose all depends on our ownership structure going forward.

All depends on our financial situation going forward. I wouldn't want any owners, current or new, plunging the club into debt of any kind to fund transfers. If we're on break even terms soon then great.

I don't much care who owns the club as long as they try to run it sensibly and sustainably.

He has surely got two recruitment plans on the go - Plan A for a squad overhaul to compete and Championship level, but now also increasing focus on Plan B for the 'what if' scenario. There won't be much time for execution of either plan.

And the ownership structure is closely linked to what happens between now and a week on Tuesday.
