Watching all the League Cup videos started the old memory box going.
So many memories of the Premier and old Division One.
But what of the ones not from those years?
Some starters from me.

Obviously my first game
Brighton at home in 1961

Then in no particular order
Liverpool away in the cup 1971
Autoglass away at Wycombe
Autoglass final
Newcastle away in the cup
Sheff Utd away in the cup
Aston Villa home Div 3 at Christmas (Ground full)
Bury away – promotion
Gillingham away promotion
Rushdon at home when it seemed the whole ground was chanting “We want Petty out”
West Ham away in the cup (Twice)
Cardiff away – last game at Ninian Park.
Exeter at home, before the Rochdale away game, when all looked lost.
Rochdale away – there’s hope
Hull at home – Nothing to add.
Another Rochdale away last game when we had to get re-elected.
Shrewsbury last league game at the Vetch

I’m sure there’s many more, as it’s been quite a rollercoaster. Anyone want to add, or their thoughts on any of the above?

Edit

Forest at home and the Pratley goal was one of the first that came to mind but didn't post it

So much going through my mind I didn't post Preston away for promotion

The Rushden game was on Sat night Tv Feb 1st 2003 in a pub in Hounslow. Leon assist, Nugent put us 1 up. Seemed we were going to nick it. It ended a 1-1 draw but it was when I got the first feelings of hope we might stay up.(We had just beaten Lincoln but were still rock bottom)

Yes at that game.

Different memories keep flooding back not special ones, but things that happened like a clutch fluid pipe needed replacing after a game in Wrexham

Port Vale home around 1971/2 ish. Lost 0-1.

Some Vale fans walking around the stands shouting 'Come and join us, come and join us, come and join us over 'ere, PORT VALE'. AN old fella sat next to me in the old VP bit, smoking a pipe (still love that smell), jumping up and yelling as one of our players was fouled, 'if we had Ron Davies, he'd stamp on your noses'.

Heady stuff for this youngster. Eyes wide open. Loved it.

Before 73.

Oh another one. Peter Abbot scoring two against someone (Bradford C?). Me "our goal scoring problems are solved dad" 😆

Shows how small things are remembered

😂

I even forgot to mention the Arsenal cup game at Vetch

And the Spurs home and away.

You realise how much it's been a part of your life. I just loved every game then. Just wanted us to win THAT game. Had no idea where we were in the league or whether we 'should' do better. The team was my team, the players, my players.

A last one. Away to Brentford in the FA Cup replay after watching us draw 1-1 at home. Listening out for the score on an old radio that whined in and out od signal. Hearing all the scores and Brentford 2, Swan...whine. Miserable sleep. Next day found out we won 3-2. Cloud 9 for days.

There's a book in this isn't there?

I suppose time moves on, football's lost its way, and now I think I'm mostly done emotionally with it. I still want us to win and succeed, but not my team, and not my players. Hasn't felt it since 2011, despite the league cup win. That stoke result I didn't care a toss about half an hour after it finished other than anger at Martin's ineptitude. My 11 year old self would have been thrilled to be in division 2 and 'oh well, lose some, win some, can't wait for Monday'. No way am I going Monday. Maybe be careful what you wish for.

Fully understand.

The pull isn't there as much now, but will still go to some games.

I think that what hits the most. All those years of whatever happened as you said my team, my players. Shame it has to be like this now.

Who knows next season might still see the miles clicked up.

Great words there Monmouth. Fully understand where you’re coming from.
Started following the Swans in ‘85.
Some of the most memorable and happy moments for me personally, was down the Vetch in the lower divisions, watching the likes of Rayner, Pascoe, Tommy, Roger, Cornforth- the list is endless. Not the most gifted, but boy did they give 100%. That’s all you could ask for.

I remember taking my son to his first game at the Vetch.

On the way home he asked why we were sitting with the other team's supporters.

I asked him what gave him that idea. He said " well everyone around us was shouting abuse at the Swansea players"

Welcome to football, son.

F*ck the Vetch, it stenched of piss, the pasties were frozen one side and cold the other, burgers were horrendous and as a young nipper you couldn't see f*ck all whilst on the north bank.. which was falling apart with 100 year old structures still in place.. what a dump, on the plus side it was warm because you were like sardines in a tin

Best times of my life on the North Bank. Cant be having that Skip.

Spurs game Jeremy Charles. Tommy Smith before all that - watching the cobblers - Northampton. Smallest attendance at the Vetch? I was there! As a kid I used to scratch the Swans results on the beach in Aberporth- when we won. Anyway- back to that bottle of Italian red.

Lots of memories here that are very nostalgic. The Leeds game away in the FA Cup when Mel Nurse got sent off was a bitter one for me. It was then that I realised that the “big” teams got the favourable decisions. Standing behind the goal when that penalty was given against David Lawrence was an eye opener.
