I have great memories of the 80's sadly not all great. Bank Holiday game at the baseball ground. Ending a long winless away streak at Cambridge. Not losing to Bristol City to avoid relegation. Avoiding the subway crew at Wolves, that eventful opening day fixture at the old den. Marching with Leyton Orient fans in the Petty era, seeing the vetch on the back page of The Sun with a locked gates picture. Ninian Park and Somerton Park derbies.

Lots of memories here that are very nostalgic. The Leeds game away in the FA Cup when Mel Nurse got sent off was a bitter one for me. It was then that I realised that the “big” teams got the favourable decisions. Standing behind the goal when that penalty was given against David Lawrence was an eye opener.

Ah another from the memory box. Was there with my dad.
We were robbed.
We were in the stand to the right, from memory it got quite lively behind the goal.

Talking of Chesterfield. Here's one of my memories.

Best times of my life on the North Bank. Cant be having that Skip.

I once played in a Cup final down the Vetch, we won 2-0.. I remember when Walter Boyd got sent off and wondering wtf happened.. fastest sending off in history, because play didn't restart because he came on as sub.. Tommy Mutton, you could've picked someone in the crowd with more ability than him.. but we're looking more likely to end up seeing human error and the lower leagues, rather than the premier league

I was there that day, and Darran was, wheeling around as he does

Agree, it was gut wrenching, still leaves a bitter taste.

I've pinched a few , and added some.
Ivors return game.
Liverpool away LC 68
Arsenal Cup 68
Doncaster away game before above.
Leeds away in the cup
Plymouth away
Spurs home
Leeds home div1
Newcastle away in the cup
Aston Villa home Div 3 at Christmas (Ground full)
West Ham away in the cup (Twice)
Home Martin Thomas
One away game, ???? we stopped in mid wales/possibly shrewsbury on the way back and we had to get out fast as someone on the bus set fire to the car park attendants shed.
There's loads more but wouldn't be of interest here probably.

Then in no particular order
Liverpool away in the cup 1971
Autoglass away at Wycombe
Autoglass final
Newcastle away in the cup
Sheff Utd away in the cup
Aston Villa home Div 3 at Christmas (Ground full)
Bury away – promotion
Gillingham away promotion
Rushdon at home when it seemed the whole ground was chanting “We want Petty out”
West Ham away in the cup (Twice)
Cardiff away – last game at Ninian Park.
Exeter at home, before the Rochdale away game, when all looked lost.
Rochdale away – there’s hope
Hull at home – Nothing to add.
Another Rochdale away last game when we had to get re-elected.
Shrewsbury last league game at the Vetch

Some in there I would definitely include

Autoglass Final
Sheff Utd in cup
West Ham in cup in 99
That last game at Ninian Park - damn you Mike Dean
Exeter at home (but for reasons that I wasnt there but I remember exactly where I was an the horrendous way of trying to find out in 2003 from many thousand miles away a result)
Hull on that final day
Last league game and I'd add the Wrexham game in the FAW
Promotion at Bury - Gillingham I remember but I watched it at the Liberty on the screens

What else stands out

Forest and Reading in the play offs - moments I will never forget
League Cup Final
Valencia every time
St Gallen and Napoli I'd add as well
Aston Villa away for our first PL away win
Fulham away for us just being simply incredible that day (West Brom at home first half for the same reason)
Putting 7 past Bristol City and 5 past Chesterfield when we were in League One - Dear Russ, thats the Swansea way
Ferrie Bodde playing - him and Jordi Gomez together for me were a joy to watch
The league cup wins at Liverpool and Chelsea
Its not a good memory but losing 4-0 at home to Kidderminster will always stick in the mind, that was as bad I think we can get
First game in the Premier League - never thought we would ever get there

There are many that just stand out as quality away trips

Bury in around 2000 (same day as Wales played England in the egg)
Many trips to Torquay - always seemed a good day out
Rotherham was a superb day until the news filtered through
First time we went to Forest in League One.
Kidderminster in the cup in 89/90

Some of those I have no idea of the result but I remember the day, the company and just the general crack

And finally that first PL season - taking my 8 year old daughter to grounds we never thought we would see our side play at, a whole season of memories never to be forgotten.

Thats a memory lane trip for a Saturday morning

Plymouth away? Was that the 2-2 draw

We played I think Southend at home the week before. Driving back through Cardiff after the game, at traffic lights, and hit behind by a car. Drivable but in for repairs so couldn't drive to Plymouth and no train return before the end of the game.
Luckily the highlights were on match of the day.

Edit

I was at the Doncaster game as well. Makes you think how many people will have the same memories but most likely never met.

Typical of you to add games from the Prem era 😀

Again so many memories.

As you say Rotherham away. So good and then tragic.

Travelled with the MAGS that day, met a poster who still posts now. 😁

Edit

Different Fulham game. Away in 95, lost 7-0

Memory of Swans fans singing

We're going to win 4-3 then 5-4 then 6-5, then 7-6 then 8-7.

There can always be humour even in bad times.

As you say fantastic memories.

Didn't mention that Reading away game, but for the wrong reasons.

There's some that won't mean much to others, like an away game at Walsall (old ground) when we lost 4-0 and very cold. Just before full time one of my fillings came out because I was freezing.

An odd memory for me is a game at the Vetch and I can’t remember who we played. The reason being, I’d played a match in the morning and had a bang on the head. Turns out I had “delayed concussion “, I was ok for a while afterwards but when watching the match on the North Bank my vision started to get weird and got dizzy. Spent the rest of the match sitting on the step with my mates all enjoying the game.

Maybe you were the lucky one.😊

That triggered 3 more.

First game at the Vetch after a fire in the main stand, and you could see through to the houses behind.
A game against Cambridge I think, Friday night when generators were being used for the floodlights. They failed, played at 11 on Saturday and I stayed overnight at some relatives.
Another game winter time. Straw had been cleared off the pitch and put behind the North Bank. During the game smoke from behind as someone had set some alight.

It just goes to show that following the Swans has been a very varied and unusual set of memories for each of us. As bad as the football is at the moment I’ll still be there on Monday for the visit of Rotherham having my usual moan from the East Stand.
“Funny old game, football “ as Greavsie once said. 🙄
