Leeds United are not in the race – or rather the double marathon – to sign Swansea forward Joel Piroe according to the Sun’s Alan Nixon. Yet another summer has been dominated by speculation around one of the club’s star players and it doesn’t look to be coming to a conclusion any time soon....

Is anyone in the race?

Looks like nobody willing to pay our asking price, let's just hope he doesn't go on the cheap, at the end of the window

If nobody is willing to pay the asking price then he's going to have to go cheap at the end of the window.

He might go for what we think is cheap, but in the end he's worth what a club will pay for him.

Isn't his father his agent? If so, I doubt he has the contacts a "proper" one whould have. If he's not getting any decent offers they might decide to stay another year, leave on a free, and get a big signing-on fee.

Why would anyone (especially Southampton) pay 7m if they are the only bidder at the heat death of the window? The bid should be a few quid more than they assess our one year loan replacement cost…so what…£1m? £2?. That’s how I’d be thinking if I was valuing the potential deal as a buyer.

We need a bidding war to get a decent price, or maybe an idiot, the likes of which might buy someone like Andy Fisher and want to buy Sorinola.

Anyhow, don’t Southampton already have better forwards? Piroe is a one trick pony. Granted it’s an excellent trick especially when replicated 20 times, that’s been priceless to us, but he brings little else.

It's normal for fans and owners to overprice their players.
Realistically though it's what's a good deal for all parties.
Blackpool were expecting £4-5m for Yates we paid 2.5m.
If we are offered double figure £10m+ we should take it.
That is of course assuming Piroe wants to go.
He may just see out this season and if successful get a large signing on fee from any suitor.

Adams is off and I think Piroe will fill the gap. Soton will know our financial state and will push a bid in late into the window knowing full well Piroe will be near worthless in January. Time isn't on our side and no bids received so far so Soton can just bide thier time and take a punt. May not play out like this but I can see the owners waiting some revenue off Piroes back by the end of the window.

Southampton want Ross Stewart from Sunderland who Martin is a big fan of.

Think he's injured for a while?

From the mutterings I've heard I don't think there was any great love with Piroe and Martin.
If that was the case don't think Joel would want be chomping at the bit to go there.
