Ashley Williams retires

I think I've logged on too late as all the compliments for Ashley have been posted.

All I can say is thanks for your sterling service for my club and country you jack and wales legend 👍

A fantastic player for us and I count ourselves as privileged to have had the very best years out of him

Good luck in your retirement Ash

I echo all the compliments paid by everyone else over what a great player he was for us and Wales.

Only thing I can think to add is that I'd probably rate him and Leon as the two most important players during our rise to the PL and our time spent there. Which says a lot considering some of the players we had during those years.

It's gonna take some player to break the Ash / Ante centre back partnership in the all time swans XI

The phrase 'club legend' is overused, but in Ash's case it is thoroughly merited. Managers came and went, but for so long Ash was the driving force at the heart of everything our team achieved. Would be great to see him back in some capacity.

This. The term is sometimes overused but I think it applies when it comes to Ash.

Brilliant player for us, excellent leader and he barely cost us anything. His record of appearing in so many conescutive games is phenomenal. Especially for a defender when you'd think there would definitely be some injuries or suspensions in there.

All of the above, best of luck Ash, wherever life takes you. YJB.

Solid, consistent, strong, omnipresent, comfortable bringing the ball out etc.. Epitomised our identity and led by example. Had time to say hello, eg back in the day posing for pics with our kids pre KO, and tolerate a moment of hero worshipping! Never forget him changing one of his kid's nappies on the patti raj stairs by the toilets, one sat evening after playing! A new dawn Ash, thanks for the memories and look forward to what you'll undoubtedly achieve in the future.

Excellent player and we had his best years. Garry Monk should take a lot of credit for showing him the ropes.

Without him we'd not have got to the PL in the time we did.
Without him we'd not have lasted as long in the PL as we did.
He was colossal for us. Switched on , consistent and put his body on the line with all those blocks amd lunges.
One of the most successful Wales captains as well.
Not a bad career!

Thought he might have hung on in there until the end of the season with an eye on the Euro’s, good luck for the future.

Huge part of our recent history and we had his best years. Part of a core of players who got us into the Prem and Europe which was beyond our wildest dreams the day he signed

Should never have left when he did other than for a payday - but he was hardly on peanuts here

Also the fact he was never injured is seriously underestimated by many - total professional
