Not surprised, he lost the love for it.

Legend in this country though, always will be.

A joy to watch him play in his prime.

Now he's stopped playing football he can turn out for them down the road, as they dont play much either.

Shame he couldn't have a proper send off. Wales legend

He was our greatest ever.
But he probably looked at the Welsh squad, saw Jonny Williams sitting there and thought what's the fckn point?

No, not for me. Most of JC's football in this country was in the 2nd Division and while he was with Juve, they won the Italian league a few times but I don't think they won a European trophy.

Thought he might stick around for another crack at the Euros given that it's only 18 months away, and we've got a resonable chance of qualifying from our group, but not particularly surprised. Really hope some of the talent coming through at the moment is good otherwise I can it being a while before we qualify for another tournament.

To be fair the European Cup was in its infancy when he was at Juventus and the Italians among many other nations didn't take it seriously.

What are the odds he gets Kit Symonds's old job? Too much of a coincidence for me.

Hard to compare as football has changed so dramatically between Charles' playing days and now. John is the only one to challenge Bale for the title of Wales' GOAT, for me personally he sits second on the list.

Thanks for everything Gareth and enjoy your retirement. His performances for Wales will go down in legend and rightfully so. He also wins massive style points for me by trolling the Real Madrid fans by speaking excellent Spanish in an early interview with LA Galaxy.
