• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

How much notice do you take of them?
I just saw a trifle in the fridge that was 5 days out of date,it was very nice.
My wife would have binned it.

Had a few mince pies yesterday which were lurking unopened in the back if the cupboard. Best before was 5th January. They were absolutely fine.

Aren't best before dates just a guideline though?
My rule of thumb is ...
1. Smell
2. Taste
3. If all good just wolf it done and what will be will be 👍

I’d eat something after its Best Before Date, but it would depend on what it was and how far past the BBD it had gone. I reckon you’re good on the trifle. I wouldn't eat anything after it’s Use By date.
Food poisoning can be serious and generally I’m quite cautious. Nearly lost one of my kids a few years ago after exposure to ecoli 157 - it was horrendous, he spent the best part of 2 weeks in a Spanish hospital receiving some pretty heavy duty treatment.

Blimey that’s not good.

It’s the use by date that you need to pay attention to as these relate to safety. BBD’s are only linked to food quality.

I've taken to buying out of date beers. There's some brilliant deals out there.

My golden rule is, no matter how much slurry in the bottle, it's still good to drink.

I’m an absolute slave to them. So much so I won’t eat it if it’s down to one day before the Bbd 😩

Several supermarkets are on a drive to remove BBD from certain product lines, the primary goal is to reduce food waste. Don’t confuse BBD with UBD, the latter is much more important and the one you should pay attention to.

Spot on.
In a past life I was a rep covering supermarkets, and was told this was the case.
