• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

Which ever way you cut it he certainly wasn't/isn't worth 2 Mill.

It was a strange signing at the time. I was hoping / expecting Govea to be the back up winger after his promising appearances at the end of the previous season.

Intrigued to see where Pompey deploy him. For me his natural position was on the right wing, he had a wicked delivery bending in crosses low and between the defender and goalkeeper that attackers love and had the pace to get the half yard or so needed to put in that kind of ball.

Then Williams converted him into a striker taking away almost all of his strengths and Sheehan clearly preferred Ronald to him when he took over.

Interesting this. I like Bianchini more than most, but even I am surprised to see him go on loan to someone as strong as Pompey. Says a lot that we're willing to loan out players to a team who only finished 7 points below us in the league last season
It’s a crazy position to be in and shows how rubbish our recruitment has been. Unless we’re so deluded we genuinely think we’ll challenge the big teams this year and need promotion quality players. Otherwise why loan out players to teams close to our level when we’re short of players as it is? Wasting money for minor gains.

sorry i do not agree, our recruitment team are doing a fair job in my opinion under some financial restraints and trying to stay within the rules, so i dont think players going out on loan would go without the managers blessing , but i do hope we have a recall option included just in case, just my veiw of course

With Bianchini it’s clear that Sheehan didn’t rate him. His minutes dropped off massively after he took over. If he does well at championship level, we’ll be able to recoup or maybe even make a profit on him while we have good wing options of our own. I don’t see it as a big issue.

The recruitment team is having to juggle two columns

The first one is the players that Sheehan wants in for the way he wants to play
The second is trying to move on the players that he doesn't which were recruited by the previous regime

The second one may well be the harder, Coleman had no clue what he was doing and some players have quite hefty wages with little incentive to move on rather than collect a paycheck

I’d certainly agree they’re constrained. I suppose in fairness it looks like things have improved a bit in the last 12 months, with Franco being good, Eom ok, Burgess should be very good. We did seem to have a run of poor signings before that who we wasted money on. Hopefully that’s changing/changed.

It almost became laughable the amount of times he'd make a cracking run for the ball but the pass never came for him during Williams' tenure. I think there's a player there that the right style will really get the best out of.

Sheehan hasn't been all that fussed on him so this move makes sense.
Lots of players made runs under Martin and Williams. The results were always the same, the ball never came out from the back from Fulton and Grimes.

We'll see how well our recruitment team have done after 10 games.

Every summer I read how amazing these players are coming in, let’s see what happens.

The newbies will need a bit of time to settle in, they won't all hit the ground running, see Eom last season
