• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

I appreciate Phil has locked the Only Fools and Horses thread (and having read through it this morning, I can see why. A thread like that deserves to be preserved as is), but Monty suggested that Jack123 should play some board games if what was on TV was making him uncomfortable.

I'm a big fan of board games myself, but wanted to make sure that if Jack123 does take up Monty's recommendation, that he doesn't make the wrong choice of game, seeing as the board game market is thriving and there are literally thousands of games out there today.

I played one called Fog of Love at the Chance and Counters board game cafe in Cardiff in pre-Covid times and it wasn't for me and my wife. We didn't enjoy it because of how it played, but I don't think Jack123 would appreciate the theme of the game:

Haven't played a board game for decades, although I am very fond of CCG's, more specifically Hearthstone.

Boggle, Mysteries of Old Peking and of course the classics Scrabble and Monopoly. Good times as a kid playing those.

Mysteries of Old Peking is on Amazon for £100

I've never got to grips with CCG's, although I haven't spent much time with them to be fair. I've watched one of the Giant Bomb team play the likes of Hearthstone and Magic, I had no idea what was going on.

I was determined to learn how to play Gwent in the Witcher 3, but only played the main game for a couple of hours and then never went back to it, so haven't had the chance to learn it!

I've played Gwent a few times that's now a standalone free to download game. I couldn't get into it.

I had little idea how to play Hearthstone when I started back in April last year. The game has an apprentice league that you play when you first play though which goes from Apprentice 40 to 1 in which you will learn the basics of the game and win cards to grow your collection, that took me about 2 weeks to get through, playing a few hours everyday. Once you get past Apprentice 1 you enter the ranked leagues where the game opens up that go from Bronze - Silver - Gold - Platinum - Diamond - Legend.

I've played it daily since March last year and am still learning, highest level i've reached is Gold 3 (it resets every month). It's a great way to pass time. They've made a lot of changes over the last year and you will never play against someone who has been playing it for years and consistently reaches higher levels than you've obtained.

They release new expansions every 3-4 months, and make changes to existing cards if they become too powerful, which keeps the game from going stale. No two games are ever the same and it's one of my most favourite games i've ever played.
